We are looking for an enthusiastic SCM Category Specialist to join our team at our East Campus office in Westhill, Aberdeen. This is a full-time, staff role where you will be responsible for the procurement of complex product category(s) supporting tendering on the project including pre and post award management.

What will you be doing?

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Work collaboratively with Tendering/Sales & Marketing to achieve key target award goals such as meeting local content requirements, achieving a fast-track delivery and providing best overall value for the tender submission. 
  • Responsible and accountable, unsupported, for tender and subcontract activities for an allocated category and be the focal point of contact for SCM.
  • Ensure clear category procurement strategies are developed for key tenders and there is an appropriate balance between internal benchmarking and external Request for Quotations (RFQs). 
  • Prepare Request for Quotations / Invitation to Tenders for goods and services in line with, allocated budgets, quality and delivery targets.
  • Ensure that all category subcontracts for the project provide best value and contractual position with regards to risk evaluation, budget adherence and delivery.
  • Prepare and coordinate the placement of subcontracts/purchase orders that ensures compliance with category strategies and project procurement plan.
  • Organize KOM (Kick off Meetings) and attend PPM (Pre-production Meetings) with Vendors
  • Follow up the weekly progress of category complex/critical packages awarded to suppliers. Ensure regular progress updates are provided to the assigned SCM Subcontract Specialist/Project Team.
  • Expedite orders and ensure all documentation are received on time.
  • Expedite invoices and close out of projects in timely manner.
  • Negotiate any disputes that may arise in the supply chain.
  • Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required.
  • Complete an evaluation of a supplier’s performance / lessons learned with the category and project team as appropriate.
  • Proactively participate in global category networking groups where relevant
  • Continuously monitor the market for allocated category particularly for category pricing and capacity.  Thereafter, advise / implement category mitigation plans, such as new supplier qualification, frame agreements and supplier partnering to secure capacity in the supply chain.
  • Conduct regular category meetings with key regional functional stakeholders to review and take appropriate action in relation category strategies and support business/project requirements.
  • Support category team to present category strategy updates to the senior management team annually.
  • Support the Subcontract team with any assignments based on business workload activities within each group.  Collaboration on work assignments across Subcontract, Category and Tendering activities will be required and also to strengthen cross-functional knowledge and experience within each team.

Professional Qualifications / Experience

  • Significant role relevant experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas/Renewables Industry and in Supply Chain Management.
  • Pre and post award experience in EPCI environment or experience in supporting EPCI Tenders within SCM.
  • Pre and post award experience in procurement of complex Category/Commodities in Oil & Gas/Renewables Industry.
  • IT proficient across the MS Suite. SAP/SAP Ariba is desirable.
  • CIPs (or other relevant industry qualification) desirable.
