JUNIOR OPERATIONS ENGINEER (JOE)

Role Summary:

The Junior Operations Engineer will be  working in Luanda, Angola (SONILS) or Lobito, Angola (SONAMET) the Operation Engineer will be responsible for the provision of engineering support to the SONILS (primarily)/SONAMET (potentially) Operational Base & Logistic Team based on SOW & sequence defined during Project preparation phases. Main duties will be to coordinate quay and storage yard activities, support with subcontractor for load out activities such as seafastening and ballasting of cargo , including third party inspection company if required, ensure equipment status are acceptable as per Subsea7 standard, with support of HSE for all load outs activities onto cargo barges, HLV, Installation Vessels and supply vessels.

His main duty is to complement the local operations and logistic team by adding in depth engineering knowledge.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Generic Key Responsibilities & Activities:

    • Installation Vessels Mobilisation/Interim Mobilisation & Demobilisation Preparation,
    • Interfacing with Suresnes Operations Engineers dedicated to vessels;
    • Ensuring that latest version of the drawings is available to the team, in charge of CB’s & / or supply vessels load-out activities;
    • Ensuring that cargo barges / or supply vessels are prepared in accordance with Engineering & transportation plan and ready prior to load-out operations. This relates to the required ballast configuration, presence of operational equipment such as surfer ladder, mooring ropes, gangway and condition of the deck;
    • Interface with seafastening & ballasting subcontractor for readiness of cargo barges;
    • Ensure sufficient resources & services are available to execute the load-out on time and recording all provided resources on a daily basis for cost reconciliation;
    • Ensures that the offshore spreads are prepared and ready for offshore operations with a particular attention to certification, bridging documentations, readinesss check list;
    • Control all equipment/material on the stacking area are adequately segregated and stored; Ensure equipment/material is well delivered to yard coordination with Project Material Trackers
    • Assists project installation engineers, Field engineers for vessel readiness and mobilization activities. Ensures project equipment is mobilized in an efficient and timely manner;

     

    The Operations Engineer duties include but not limited to :

    • Share the below activities with the dedicated project and operations engineer bring his support and knowledge of the infrastructures present in Country;
    • Prepare the daily operations report based on the progress of work;
    • Review the load-out procedures produced by the installation engineers and portcall management plans prepared by office operations engineers;
    • Verifying rigging certificates;
    • Develop and issues requisition for the supply of operations & logistic dedicated equipment;
    • Attending of HIRA meetings for all load outs;
    • Monitor readiness of cargo barges / or supply vessels and equipment for all of them;
    • Execute any specific mobilization activities, including eventaully development of procedures, task plan, as instructed;
    • Check all seafastenings are to spec;
    • Assist in the co-ordination of the logistic support activities, (Freight forwarding, Shipping, OPL), through the in-country logistic organisation;
    • Ensure CBs are ballasted as per ballast plan and hatches are replaced following ballasting;
    • Ensure that all work performed complies with the requirements of the Project and is carried out in accordance with the rules and the methods of the Group;
    • Ensure that all aspects of project Safety, Health & Quality are implemented on each of the Onshore work sites under his responsibility and report to Project’s HSE orgnisation as necessary;
    • Assist with Manifest preparation and define associated loadout sequence based on vessel needs;
    • Coordinate offloading activities when receiving goods from installation vessel or Supplu vessel. Check consistency of manifest issued by vessel;
    • Coordinate the arrival and departure of supply vessels and CB’s with Port Capt.;

AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS

  • Commercial: N/A.
  • Functional: As delegated by Project Operations Manager.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience Engineering within the oil and gas industry
  • Some experience in large projects, in particular Logistic Support, Mobilisations and Field Engineering,
  • Skilled in co-ordination of support Services, subcontractors,
  • An experience in Steel fabrication, yard or other  will be appreciated, 
  • Fluent in English.
  • AutoCAD basic skills
  • MS Office
