JOB TITLE: Senior Project Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

LOCATION: Based in Houston

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to a Lead Engineer or Project Manager, as appropriate, for day-to-day activities. Senior Project Engineers provide engineering and technical expertise to the project team, supporting more senior engineers or managers. The requirement is to produce detailed engineering packages, managing aspects of the team as agreed with the Management team. Work may include supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects. The Global IRM department will include work scopes covering ROV Intervention, SFL/EFL Installations, Jumper Installations, Hydrate Remediation, Survey, and Inspection. This role will require offshore work trips to support the execution of project work. 

The Senior Project Engineer will have responsibility for discrete work packages within the overall project team.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in the key area of subsea installation engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
  • Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include rigging design calculations, specifications, procedures, progress reports, bid evaluations, and study reports.
  • Originate technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Provide engineering support during operations with occasional periods offshore or at dock.
  • Propose offshore vessel schedules, attempting to optimize operational timings
  • Aware of all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements.
  • Involved in HAZID studies and TRAs of tasks detailed in the procedures
  • Interface with associated subsea related disciplines and understands the interfaces within the project environment
  • Involved with meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Add to the Global Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance department lessons learned consolidation
  • Mentoring of junior engineers
  • Propose innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction
  • Identify suitable equipment to perform operational tasks offshore, checking all aspects of the equipment to ensure it is operated safely and efficiently with suitable certification provided to meet statutory regulations. Also liaise with vessel departments and third-party contractors to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and fully compatible with offshore worksite.
  • Travel requirement – minimum 25% onshore and offshore

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Professional qualifications – Degree qualified or above. Preferably in Ocean, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Relevant Engineering Experience (7 years+) in Life of Field, IMR, Light Construction, Major Construction within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry
  • Experience in delivering packages per API RP2D and DNVGL-ST-N001.
  • Proven proficiency in handling front end engineering design and/or detailed engineering
  • Able to work in teams
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
  • Demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality
  • Shall be self-motivated and have well developed interpersonal skills
  • Can work to deadlines set by management
  • Membership to a relevant Professional Body
  • Familiarity with recognized industry engineering software
  • Use of Excel, AutoCAD, Mathcad, and DNV tools.
  • Professional qualifications – Degree qualified or above. Preferably in Ocean, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent

Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in installation and construction of subsea infrastructure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and MathCad
