POSITION PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Subsea7 are looking for a Coatings Engineer to join our Pipelines Team in Houston. The successful candidate will be required to provide technical support to various Subsea Projects and ensure good engineering practice.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, produce and review (as applicable) Subsea 7 specifications and related technical documents covering all coatings and corrosion mitigation aspects associated with construction and installation of subsea structures/ pipeline systems,
- Review client generated specifications and related documents pertaining to coating and provide technical qualifications where required in support of project activities.
- Review and approve contractor/subcontractor/ vendor procedures relating to coating and material use in a timely manner.
- Provide specialist technical support to projects and other disciplines within Subsea 7 regarding coating selection; support and generate technical solution of issues within the discipline
- Sound working knowledge of recognised industry codes and standards) relevant to corrosion and materials discipline, (e.g. ISO 8501, ISO 21809-1, ISO 21809-2, NORSOK M501, ISO 12736 etc.) and providing advice and guidance on interpretation and use where appropriate in accordance with Subsea 7 business management system. .
- Evaluate supplier coating assessments to select the appropriate coating systems for the job and ensure it is suitable for fabrication and installation.
- Provide support to the Principal and be able to communicate clearly to other disciplines.
- Attend site when applicable to ensure that all Subsea 7 requirements are met and to ensure all activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
- Mentor junior engineers within the discipline
- Actively engage in knowledge sharing, capture of Lessons Learned and application of Engineering Standards. Participate in risk assessments and mitigation processes
Qualifications and Education
General Education:
• Educated to degree level or above in corrosion control, materials science, polymer science or a related engineering subject or a minimum of 15 years relevant experience.

Experience:
• The candidate is required to have a minimum of 10 years relevant experience within the Engineering discipline. Some of which should be within oil & gas or related sectors.
• Awareness of Subsea installation techniques
• Experience and knowledge in application of corrosion protection.
• A full understanding of corrosion processes in offshore environment and pipeline systems
• It is essential the candidate has a broad knowledge of anti-corrosion coating and wet insulation selection
Location:
• Based in the Houston Office. Must be willing to travel to other sites and vessels as required on occasion
• Must be physically fit for required position subject to reasonable adjustments
