We have an exciting permanent staff opportunity in the PG (Pipeline Group) Finance Team for an Associate Project Cost Controller.

The role can be based in either our Old Kilpatrick office (near Erskine Bridge), or in Westhill, Aberdeen.

The role of Associate Project Cost Controller is an essential steppingstone to becoming a Project Cost Controller, ideally suited to a candidate with a degree in Finance or similar qualification, who wishes to study towards professional qualification in a supportive environment.

The role develops the Associate in the necessary competencies and skills required to take on the full responsibility of a Project Cost Controller, through ongoing studies, and developing a set of transferrable skills suited to all areas of the wider Project Cost Control/Finance function within Subsea7.

The successful candidate will take personal responsibility for self-development by working towards and demonstrating full knowledge and understanding of the various competencies set out in the Associate Project Cost Controller Competency Matrix.

This non-technical support role presents an ideal opportunity for someone with a financial background, who is highly numeric with excellent Excel, analytical and administrative skills. 

 

What will you be doing?

  • Assist the Project Cost Controller in all aspects of cost control of assigned projects including forecasting
  • Assist in the tracking of man hours, procurement activities and vessel operations.
  • Ensure the transfer of the Tender budget to Ecosys / Excel working file to form the basis of future monitoring and control.
  • Assist in the month end process by ensuring that SAP accurately reflects project to date, including any accruals or prepayments
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial forecasts for projects
  • Run of SAP cost/commitment reports
  • Roll over and updating of Excel working files
  • Maintain invoice and manpower trackers
  • Analyse variances from budget by building a detailed monthly analysis of variances from prior forecast
  • Prepare Close Out Documentation both internally and externally relevant to the Function.
  • Assist the Cost Controller prepare project cash flows

 

What experience would we like you to have?

  • It is essential that candidates should be educated to higher level (degree or equivalent) in Finance or a business-related subject
  • IT literate across the MS Suite, proficient in Microsoft Excel (including advanced pivots/lookups etc)
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Ecosys is preferred but not essential
  • Committed to in-role learning and studying towards professional qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, accustomed to report writing.
  • Builds and maintains strong business relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Collaborative team worker who also demonstrates initiative and ownership.
  • Excellent analytical skills, and an ability to work with detail and high accuracy.
  • Adaptable with a hands-on approach to supporting the team.
  • Pro-active and solutions-based, questions and will challenge the status quo.
  • Strong planning and organising skills and effective forward planning.
  • Cultural awareness.
