This office-based role within the Aberdeen Survey team supports our global subsea survey operations, collaborating with our Project Surveyors in the definition, procurement and interfacing requirements for ROV and vessel deployed survey equipment.

Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of subsea offshore construction, ROV systems and associated survey equipment.

What will you be doing? 

The Survey Support Engineer ensures that the offshore worksites are supported in respect to the correct setup, calibration and use of equipment and that all technical faults and breakdowns are recorded and reported in a timely manner.

Working directly with both internal business functions and external suppliers the role will identify, procure, ship and track equipment to and from Subsea7 logistics bases, suppliers and global offshore worksites.

Additional responsibilities may include support to the equipment group and workshop teams, ROV technical teams, software & applications team and other stakeholders as required.

On-site assistance during vessel mobilisations may be required and so applicants should be prepared to undertake occasional travel, including short/overnight vessel visits. 

  • Technical assistance in the selection, interfacing, setup and use of survey equipment to project surveyors, field staff, vessel management and operational stakeholders as required.
  • Review project requirements for vessel/ROV mobilisation and facilitate requests for internal & external survey equipment.
  • Prepare cost and schedule estimates for survey mobilisations.
  • Work with all stakeholders to ensure timely delivery, return and off-hire of equipment to/from offshore worksites.
  • Briefing of offshore survey engineering personnel assigned to project as required.
  • Technical support to offshore engineers through mobilisation and operation as required.
  • Attend and support vessel mobilisations as required.
  • Review equipment fault reports and facilitate replacement to vessel as appropriate.
  • Ensure relevant vessel and survey equipment configuration documentation is maintained and updated.
  • Maintain vessel equipment inventories and facilitate vessel consumable requests.
  • Prepare technical notes, procedures and mobilisation plans as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of current HSE practice and promote HSEQ responsibilities.
  • Any other delegated responsibilities to meet business requirements as instructed by Line Manager.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Degree or HND level qualification in relevant survey or electronics related discipline preferred.
  • Knowledge of subsea offshore construction, ROV systems and associated survey equipment.
  • Prior offshore experience in Survey or ROV operations preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Prior experience of SAP preferred but not essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated with the commitment to continue professional development.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, builds collaborative relationships across the business.
  • Ability to work with detail and accuracy.
  • Good planning and organising skills, able to identify and effectively prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ownership of tasks while contributing to team activities.
  • Pro-active with a solutions-based approach, willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, will identify efficient work methods and processes.
  • Willingness to travel and attend vessel mobilisations as required.
