Due to an increase in workload, Subsea7 are looking for a Field Engineer, who is fluent in both Portuguese and English, to join our Pipeline Group (PG) team responsible for delivering fit for purpose rigid pipeline installation methods and analysis to projects and tenders supported by the group with specific focus on safe and cost-effective installation operations.  This role will be split with an offshore/onshore rotation, but candidates will be expected to spend regular periods of work in either our Sutton, Aberdeen or Suresnes offices and the business will offer relocation and visa support to candidates who require to relocate to one of those regions.

As a Field Engineer you will perform a key role in the offshore operations aboard an assigned Pipe Lay Vessel, providing the link between the vessel and the onshore project team to ensure that installation and construction activities are performed in accordance with procedures in a safe and efficient manner whilst also supporting key management of change activities. With their focus being on the support of the project team and delivery of projects, the FE will be the project interface assigned to the vessel on a rotational rota basis and, when not offshore, will be required to contribute to project or tender support activities onshore or any specific task as agreed through the functional manager.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Offshore
    • Provide consistent technical interface between the onshore project(s), construction, and marine personnel on the vessel during tender, planning & execution phases.
    • Assist with the planning and organisation of project mobilisation and demobilisation port calls, preparing the deck / vessel crew for loadout of project materials.
    • Lead sequential project planning efficiency optimisation, i.e., installation aids re-use, tensioner pad change-outs, equipment mob / demob, ROV tooling consistency as required.
    • Assist with preparation and distribution of Task Plans, ensuring all relevant safety and quality issues are included.
    • Promote safety culture and initiatives to the construction crew throughout all offshore activities.
  • Onshore
    • Develop and maintain various vessel documentations such as Vessel Specification, STPs, Standard Lift Plans, NORMs, Project History.
    • Participate in review of installation procedures, drawings, and Lift Plans.
    • Participate in review of tender deliverables (installation scope) such as Time Estimate, Databook and Method Statement.
    • Participate in project PHAs, HAZIDs and HIRAs (level 0 to 3), design / operability reviews, readiness reviews and convergence plans.
    • Assist with interface between project / installation team and Offshore Resources to ensure that equipment/assets to be used are fit-for-purpose with adequate documentation, required operational performance and level of preparation.

 

What experience would we like you to have?

  • You should be degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • You will have experience working in a project installation engineering role, ideally within a rigid pipelay role but this is not essential.
  • You should be a strong team player with the ability to function as a team member across multiple projects and vessel departments.
  • Strong interface management with the ability to bring together various people within a project structure, including other disciplines, logistics, project management, clients, suppliers, vessel departments.
  • You should be able to demonstrate strong safety leadership.
