Your mission

The Global Projects Centre (GPC) is Subsea7's centre of excellence for the execution of its largest projects worldwide.

Subsea7 is currently seeking a Deputy Flow Assurance Discipline Manager to join the GPC engineering team in our Sutton office to support the continued growth of our flow assurance capability. The Deputy Flow Assurance Discipline Manager shall report to the Flow Assurance Discipline Manager and shall support the Discipline Manager to ensure that the discipline has the technical competence, capacity and processes to provide the necessary support to all GPC studies, FEEDs, tenders and projects, and to meet the discipline targets in line with Subsea7 business priorities.

 

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

The Deputy Flow Assurance Discipline Manager shall support the Flow Assurance Discipline Manager with the effective management of the flow assurance Discipline, including the continual improvement of flow assurance capabilities and ways of working, team development, identification of training requirements, development needs, processes and tools. The Deputy Flow Assurance Discipline Manager shall also maintain active involvement in key projects and provide technical support (including supervision of analysis) to flow assurance engineers across their projects as necessary to assist them in the delivery of their work. Specific responsibilities shall include:

 

Discipline Management Support :

  • Support the Flow Assurance Discipline Manager to:
  • Coordinate discipline services and resources, identify future resource needs to ensure appropriate and timely support is available to meet the needs of projects.
  • Identify improvements and the development and update of Engineering Process and Tools.
  • Ensure high quality of flow assurance support is provided, and that services are delivered in accordance with project team expectations and in compliance with Subsea7 processes and procedures.

 

Project Delivery:

  • Review project requirements, prepare scopes of work, and manhour estimates for delivery of flow assurance engineering.

 

  • Take responsibility for the delivery of detailed thermo-hydraulic analysis to validate the subsea system operation and subsea equipment performance to meet project requirements and constraints from other disciplines including:

 

  • Analyse and recommend engineering solutions to achieve specific project requirements.
  • Lead and supervise flow assurance studies and deliver design/analysis reports & operating philosophies.
  • Define requirements for detailed thermal analyses to assess the level of thermal insulation needed for subsea equipment.
  • Understand client and internal project needs, identify design parameters and issues, develop and implement solutions.
  • Support technical interfaces with internal and external stakeholders in flow assurance related topics.
  • Oversee delivery of flow assurance activities provided by flow assurance team including the production of technical deliverables to ensure quality, validity and consistency of work delivered by the discipline.

 

Team Development

  • Support communication to discipline team members of business requirements and facilitate effective communication between team members and leadership.
  • Agree and monitor performance standards with direct reports, identify personal development needs and support ongoing individual growth targets.
  • Support the Engineers Competence Development Scheme (EDCS) & Graduate Engineer Development Scheme (GEDS).
  • Promote personal CPD (continual professional development) through regular engagement with the professional engineering community. 

 

YOUR PROFILE:

The Deputy Flow Assurance Discipline Manager shall have a degree in engineering, and minimum of 15yrs experience of working in a flow assurance related role. Flow assurance knowledge should ideally be supported by experience of working in a lead/manager flow assurance position for major SURF and/or subsea production systems projects during FEED and execution stages.

  

Key personal skills and experience shall include the following:

  • Proven capability in delivery of flow assurance for SURF/Subsea projects, including:
    • In depth understanding of multiphase flow & heat transfer analysis
    • Knowledge of insulation materials and coating for subsea equipment
    • Understanding of key flow assurance challenges; hydrate, wax, scale, corrosion, asphaltene, liquid management
    • Competency with common flow assurance modeling tools including Olga, PVTSim and Pipesim and Multiflash
    • Strong knowledge in using CFD/FEA simulators (Fluent, Star CCM+)
  • Demonstratable ability to lead teams (either through previous discipline manager role or project/engineering team management).
  • Experience of developing scopes of work and preparation of time estimates.  
  • Experience in reviewing deliverables and ensuring quality in the work delivered by others.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, manage time and change accordingly, and direct other team members as necessary to meet deadlines in line with discipline resource or budget constraints.
  • Strong communication skills, and ability develop effective working relationships through good communication.
  • Willingness and interest to motivate others, and to identify and provide training for the development of the team.
  • Ability to identify problems, in-efficiencies and improvement opportunities and pro-actively development solutions.
  • Interest and understanding of Subsea7 business objectives, and ability to align objectives with discipline and personal development targets.

Location

The position is based in our Sutton Office (UK). Some travel may be required from time to time.
