Business Development Manager- North Africa and Mediterranean 

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

The Business Development Manager shall have the responsibility for the application of the Business Development Process in the North Africa and Mediterranean Market (and any other assigned Markets/Countries), working in co-ordination with the GPC East (Africa & Middle East) Sales and Marketing Team.

The Business Development Manager shall identify key Clients and Strategic Partners, determine, develop, and execute engagement strategies to develop and maintain relationships. He/she also supports and maintains the Client and Competitor databases and maintains data on Client Prospects/Opportunities.

For identified prospects, the Business Development Manager shall do pursuit planning (drafting of plans and presentations), including appropriate technical and/or operational assessment to develop their Pursuit Plans.  The Business Development Manager is responsible for engaging with potential Clients and other industry actors to maintain relationships and develop potential strategic partnerships. Internal stakeholder management will also be key to success through engagement with other functions and Subsea7 internal service providers.

This is a full time role based role based in France

 

Travel:

  • Travel is required within the GPC East Region.
  • Travel Expectation: As needed but periodically up to 50% of working time.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Develop and implement strategy for local accounts by understanding Clients, identifying opportunities and translating Subsea7's strengths and competitors' weaknesses into an pursuit plan.
  • Collate marketing intelligence for current and future work.
  • Identify future key projects and contractor/alliance requirements.
  • Assume ownership for customer/client relationship to assigned companies/markets and to support the delivery of sustainable business development and client satisfaction.
  • Develop pursuit plans to position Subsea7.
  • Support the drive/escalate resolution of problems to the satisfaction of the Client and Subsea7.
  • Attend local conferences, inclusive of arranging and scheduling Executive meetings with key Clients and Partners.
  • Ensure Sales & Marketing capitalises from lessons learned and is performed in accordance with best practice, striving to mitigate risk, promoting safety and integrity consistently.
  • Maintain and update the Sales Database.
  • Maintain and update an internal Database for monitoring and tracking Competitor activity and capability/capacity.
  • Enhance the whole range of business activities through fit-for-purpose capability presentations, promote the know-how of Subsea7, particularly the EPCI potential as well as the full range of services Subsea7 can provide to Clients.
  • Report and advise Management on business plans and analysis concerning projects, countries, or unattended geographical areas, indicate opportunities for investment and strategic partnerships, and if necessary stipulate co-operation/ confidentiality agreements.

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Degree qualified (ideally in Engineering, Business Management, Marketing) or similar.
  • Post Graduate Degree qualification (MSc, MBA or similar) preferred.
  • Relevant previous experience at an appropriate level in similar environment with strong preference for experience in a similar role in Africa/Mediterranean.
  • Oil & Gas Subsea Construction sector experience.
  • English is mandatory, French and Arabic are a big plus.
