Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Oslo

We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, specialized in either field of soil mechanics, fluid dynamics, earth structure and dynamics, to join our Seabed Intervention team at our office in Oslo, on a permanent staff basis. The Seabed Intervention team provides specialist engineering services on geotechnical design and installation aspects of wind turbine generator foundations and associated infrastructure such as cables, scour protection etc., to all Seaway7 departments and business units worldwide.

 

What will you be doing:

Within the seabed intervention department, you will be responsible to apply geotechnical engineering principles to the full range of offshore geotechnical engineering topics faced by Seaway 7 in the offshore renewable sector. This will include but not be limited to site investigation, geohazard risk assessment, foundation design, trenching and rock dumping.

  • Perform within the Seabed Intervention discipline as geotechnical engineer.
  • Interpret findings of geological and geotechnical surveys and investigations at submarine power cables routes or at wind turbine locations.
  • Assess soil conditions and create a ground model.
  • Provide recommendations for cable trenching, offshore construction and foundation installation methods and equipment.
  • Perform cable burial assessments, selection of trenching equipment, review of scour protection solutions, estimate associated ground risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare foundation installation methods/procedures, perform driveability assessments, leg penetration analyses, selection of installation equipment and noise mitigation measures, as well as assessment of geotechnical related risks.
  • Prepare subcontractor scopes of work, review subcontractor and client provided procedures.
  • Perform engineering related to rock placement.
  • Prepare and review reports on Client's documentation, in-house analyses, provide input and review in-house project procedures and design documents, in varying phases of project.
  • Contribute to internal and Client meetings, as well as to planning of Projects/Tenders including estimation of Resources needed per work Package.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, Clients and Seaway7 internally on technical and logistical project matters, including technical coordination of subcontractor scopes.
  • Provide support on site at offshore wind projects, or from office for ad-hoc questions, as geotechnical expert.
  • Support research and development within Seabed Intervention, contribute to expand of knowledge, (lessons learned, work standards) and to knowledge sharing.
  • Provide guidance to engineers with respect to field of expertise, and mentor junior Engineers.
  • Develop strong teamwork with all colleagues.

  • Master and or Academic Technical Degree with Geotechnics in curriculum, (Geotechnical, Fluid dynamics, Geology), and with work experience related to offshore Geotechnics.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within context of geotechnical engineering, experience in offshore engineering is advantageous.
  • Approachable, demonstrates credibility and can engage and influence at all levels.
  • Solutions based with effective planning and organization skills, approaches tasks in a structural and methodical manner.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Willingness to broaden knowledge and develop in career path.
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments overseas.
