Under supervision a Graduate Engineer assists more senior engineers to produce detailed engineering relevant to his/her area of specialism. The work scope may include supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects. The Graduate Engineer will normally participate in the Graduate Engineer Development Scheme (GEDS) involving off-the-job training, on-the-job development, mentoring and self-development.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under direct supervision, produces engineering deliverables, which may include engineering support to Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and third party submissions.
  • Consolidates knowledge in areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
  • Limited awareness of clients’ needs; addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Participates in meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, third parties, etc. in a junior capacity.
  • Prepare and present Task Risk Assessments, HAZOPs, etc. when assigned.
  • Makes effort to become aware of all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements.
  • Adheres to the training requirements of the GEDS program.
  • Recognizes the objectives for professional development.
  • Additional responsibilities/activities specific to the appropriate Engineering Centre may be added as applicable, for example, participate in offshore assignments as required by project placement.

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate with a degree in civil engineering / mechanical engineering / naval architect or equivalent.
  • Ideally, candidate obtained post-graduate degree on offshore related engineering at Master/PhD level.

 

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working.
  • Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc.
  • The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision.
  • The ability to organize and prioritize own work and as such have responsibility for discrete work packages ongoing simultaneously.
  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions.
