Our Global Welding Development Centre (GWDC) employs a range of specialist equipment, technology (e.g. computerised welding) and personnel to perform the highest quality of work to meet exacting criteria. 

We continue to develop welding technology to fulfil our global project requirements within the ever-evolving energy sector, aligning our expertise to the needs of our clients both now and in the future.

The Production Engineer is part of the PG Production Operations Team within Subsea7 and the focal point for all operational aspects of the PG Production scope within a project area, including in-person support at our Global spoon bases.

Based in our Pipeline Group facility in Old Kilpatrick the role will undertake regular travel to our global Spool Bases.

Our successful applicant may already have well-established experience in this type of role, or they may be in their early career with transferrable skills which can be further developed in-role.

Experience working in the Energy industry would be advantageous, however, we recognise talent is found in all areas and as such would also welcome applicants from other industries including:, Aviation, Automotive, Production, Manufacturing and Nuclear.

 

What will your responsibilities involve?

At all times participate in and contribute to a positive HSEQ culture, ensuring familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

Building effective relationships through regular liaison with colleagues, clients and vendors.  Internally this includes Package Managers, Tender and Project teams, HSEQ, Operations, SCM, Engineering and PG Management.

When assigned to a Project:

  • Be responsible for the production site mobilisation process ensuring everything is ready in due time for operations, including Subsea7 and Subcontractors Personnel and Equipment,
  • Assist with job planning, including:
    • Preparation of operational procedures
    • Preparation of project planning documentation
    • Management of the ready for operations for the project

 

Whilst on site (Onshore):

  • Assist / manage the creation of operational plans – including:
    • Lift Plans
    • Stalk Storage / Layout Drawings (load out sequence)
    • Spooling Checklist with planned dates for actions
    • Fabrication Layout Plan
    • Maintenance of operational records and produce reports on site activities for management and client – including:
    • Base Case Schedule
    • Daily Progress Report
    • Pulling Record / Downtime Analysis
    • Spooling Log
    • Attend progress / client meetings
    • Produce and issue minutes as required
    • Liaise with client and sub-contractor personnel as required
    • Follow up & analyse the progress of the production site and lead the trouble shooting of any safety, quality or technical issue on site.
    • Prepare and issue the PG Production Weekly Production Report.
    • Issue PG Production close out report.

 

Whilst Supporting Site:

  • Be responsible for the maintenance of operational records and produce reports on site activities for management and client (remotely)
  • Be responsible for the follow up & analysis of the progress of the production site and lead the trouble shooting of any safety, quality or technical issue (remotely)
  • Be responsible for the preparation of and issue the PG Production Weekly Production Report (remotely)
  • Be responsible for the issue of PG Production - Production close out report (remotely)

Contribute to the Subsea7 tendering process by using site experience to review forecast productivity, equipment and manning levels during bid.

  • Role relevant degree qualification (e.g. Engineering) or qualified by experience.
  • Highly numeric with analytical skills and the ability to work with detail and accuracy.

  • Pro-active planning and organising skills, able to identify and effectively prioritise workload and successfully meet multiple, often competing deadlines.

  • Mobile to undertake travel to and work from global sites.
