We are looking for an Tax Assistant / Advisor to join our Tax team in Sutton, London on a staff basis.

Reporting into the Group’s UK Tax Director, the successful candidate will provide support to the Senior Tax Team more generally, including the Head of Tax.

This is an opportunity for an accounting graduate, or early career chartered accountant, looking to develop a deeper understanding of direct taxes, and potentially undertake a professional education, in-house.

The successful candidate will provide support in respect of tax planning initiatives, corporate projects and entity ownership across multiple jurisdictions, and will need to have a flexible and pro-active approach to managing their workload.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills, looking to work in a demanding but collaborative environment, to develop their business partnering and technical skills across a range of issues.

 

What will your responsibilities involve?

This is intended to be a developmental role, and duties will vary depending on the organisation’s needs, but are expected to include:

  • Running reports in the financial systems to prepare and update tax related models.
  • Undertaking financial analysis in support of tax planning or reporting initiatives.
  • Helping the Group meet its transfer pricing obligations, undertaking associated financial analysis, and file preparation.
  • Diligence and M&A support (ad hoc).
  • Drafting tax position papers.
  • Researching and reporting on various aspects of overseas tax regimes.
  • Developing, documenting and monitoring tax processes.
  • Assisting with tax administration e.g. registrations, de-registrations, and other local obligations.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Education

  • Graduates should have achieved a minimum: 2:1 degree with a major in accounting or tax; Level 6 (B) for both GCSE English and Math (or equivalent); and work experience relevant to the role.
  • Qualified accountants (ICAEW / ICAS) must have first time passes.
  • Successfully completed university modules in tax, and / or work experience in a corporate tax environment preferred.


Continuing Professional Development:

  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate a willingness to undertake role specific training and development, including undertaking structured professional training and exams as may be deemed appropriate (to be funded by the Company).

 

Skills

  • attention to detail and accuracy –a “right first time” mindset; candidates must be able to produce work of a high standard, within set timeframes.
  • strong numeric skills; the ability to quickly assimilate numerical information and identify gaps and inconsistencies.
  • proficiency in MS Excel, and experience of running reports for data manipulation.
  • good time management skills; the ability to independently plan and prioritise workload and competing demands.
