POSITION OVERVIEW

Subsea7 has a requirement for a Junior Supply Chain Subcontracts Specialist to join the Gulf of Mexico team based in our Houston, US office.

The SCM Subcontracts Specialist performs a key role supporting Subsea7 tenders, projects and functions. The SCM Subcontracts Specialist is responsible for the following:

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Operate within standardized SCM policies, processes and systems and leverage the systems side to support the provision of relevant quality metrics.
  • Work closely with the SCM Lead to develop the project procurement strategy.
  • Register and qualify new suppliers utilizing SAP Ariba software.
  • Source competitive bids from qualified suppliers for goods/services and monitor supplier’s performance.
  • Perform commercial bid evaluations and prepare recommendation to award summaries.
  • Facilitate supplier financial assessment reviews with assistance from Finance/Treasury Department.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions favorable to Subsea7.
  • Ensure that all project subcontracts for the project provide best value and contractual position with regards to risk evaluation, specification, quality, budget adherence and delivery.
  • Place and manage subcontracts and purchase orders that ensures compliance with procurement strategies and project procurement plan.
  • Liaise with other disciplines such as Quality, HSE, Planning, Cost Control and Document Control for input and reporting.
  • Attend the project procurement plan meetings alongside the SCM Lead on a weekly basis.
  • Organize KOM (Kick off Meetings) and attend PPM (Pre-production Meetings) with suppliers.
  • Ensure the follow-up of actions from the supplier weekly progress meeting with relevant functions within the Project for complex/critical packages.
  • Expedite orders and ensure all documentation is received on time.
  • Process change order requests in accordance with SCM processes.
  • Expedite invoices and close out of projects in timely manner.
  • Negotiate any disputes that may arise in the supply chain.
  • Responsible for managing procurement budget and providing input to the SCM Lead for monthly cost reports.
  • Perform closeout activities in accordance with SCM processes for designated subcontracts.
  • Deliver briefs, updates and reports when required to project and business unit.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers including performing sites visits.
  • Support the Category & Tendering team with any assignments based on business workload activities within each group. Collaboration on work assignments across Subcontract, Category and Tendering activities will be required and also to strengthen cross-functional knowledge and experience within each team.
  • Capitalize from lessons learned and supplier’s performance, striving to mitigate risk, promoting predictable performance.
  • Candidates must demonstrate previous experience of and the ability to cope with the pressure of meeting demanding targets and working to tight deadlines.

Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • Work experience in supply chain or a similar role is advantageous.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, logistics or related technical/analytical field is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge and experience with SAP / SAP Ariba is advantageous.
  • Some knowledge of supplier evaluation, purchase order creation, subcontract management, contract terms & conditions and negotiation is required.

Person Specification

  • Must demonstrate good negotiation skills and have previous experience of working with subcontracts.
  • Must be flexible, open to changing priorities and reliable.
  • Ability to articulate learning and development experiences and a willingness to participate in development of own career.
  • The position requires candidates to interact with people at various levels in the organization and also external suppliers therefore, candidates should be able to demonstrate strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Candidates should be able to solve problems using their own initiative.
