We are looking for a brilliant Lead Accountant to join our team in Istanbul Global Project Centre office on temporary basis, please note this position is a cover for maternity leave, expected duration of the contract – 12 months.
This role is responsible for optimising and sustaining financial performance. The Lead Accountant oversees accounting operations, produces accurate and meaningful reports on financial performance, position and prospects, and improves current practices to maximise efficiency.
The Lead Accountant is accountable for planning, coordinating and delivering all finance activities across all projects and countries within scope.
What will you be doing?
- Provides strategic and financial guidance to ensure the financial objectives are met or exceeded
- Enforces all relevant policies and procedures to ensure the sound financial management and control in the scope
- Assesses, manages, and minimises financial exposures related to projects execution or country operations
- Provides financial support and insights to enable critical business decision making
- Ensures the efficient, timely, accurate, cost effective management and delivery of the Finance function’s activities
- Plans, organises, manages, and continuously improves processes in accordance with Subsea 7 global ways of working
- Develops a constructive and professional relationship with all stakeholders
- Facilitates the execution of the Business Unit budget and plan by setting clear and realistic objectives for direct reports
- Provides strategic direction, leadership, supervision and mentoring to the finance team
- Supports the professional and career development of the finance team within the Business Unit.
- Develops and fosters a positive HSEQ culture throughout Subsea 7
Role Specific - Key Responsibilities & Activities
- Oversees the statutory and tax filings in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP
- Ensuring that all company tax returns are prepared on time, controlling, preparing their payments, collecting and managing tax returns on time, if any, and conducting the deferred tax process within the scope
- Taking necessary measures to follow the tax legislation and apply it to the company and eliminate the risks, if any.
- Management the accounting team and controlling the duties of teamEnsuring and controlling accounting records in a timely manner in accordance with Turkish rules.
- Maintains full compliance with Anti Bribery laws e.g. SAPIN II, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)
- Provides overview to the monthly financial reports and insightful analysis on performance and position
- Provides financial input and guidance to Business Unit tenders
- Works with the Group Tax to minimize exposure and ensure local compliance requirements are met
- Ensure optimum cash generation and consumption and working capital in coordination with Group Treasury
- Responsible for financial controls and compliance for countries in scope
- Contributes to the risk management and internal controls continuous improvement
- Provides strategic direction, leadership, and supervision to Joint Ventures
- Manages the interfaces between project cost controllers and finance (e.g. participation at the monthly meeting of the Project Management Status Report).
Required Experience and Education
• At least 3 years of experience in Accounting & Tax team management (candidates with experience in production environment are preferred) and also min 7 years of Accounting knowledge
• Advanced knowledge in MS Office applications and SAP
• Fluent English skills (both verbal & writing)
• Relevant previous experience at an appropriate level in the onshore or offshore construction or energy business
• Experienced in international tax
