Subsea7 are looking for Engineering Apprentices to be based in our Sutton, London office. This opportunity blends academic study with real-world engineering applications, allowing you to earn a BEng (Hons) in Electro-Mechanical Engineering without the burden of student debt. Throughout the five-year program, in partnership with the University of Nottingham, you will develop a solid understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles, applying these in real-life business scenarios to promote innovation and efficiency. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in both on-the-job and off-the-job training as outlined in the apprenticeship standard. 
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address real-world challenges, applying learned theories and practices. 
  • Engage in projects tailored to reinforce your academic learning with practical application. 
  • Contribute to the design, testing, and analysis of engineering projects under the supervision of experienced engineers and university faculty. 
  • Attend block release sessions at Nottingham University as part of the academic component of the apprenticeship. 
  • Document and report on project progress and outcomes as part of continuous assessment requirements. 

 

Educational Structure: 

  • Year 1-2: Lay a solid foundation in engineering principles, including applied engineering, programming skills, and electrical and electronic devices. 
  • Year 3-4: Specialise in advanced topics such as thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and engineering management. 
  • Year 5: Undertake a significant BEng project that showcases your ability to integrate and apply all the learned skills in a real-world context. 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English Language and GCSE Maths at grade 5 or above 
  • Are eligible to work in the UK 
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for engineering 
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Levels in Maths and two other subjects, ideally with grades B or above. 

Advantageous but not essential:

  • Prior exposure to engineering environments through internships, work experience, or projects.
