Subsea7 is recruiting for Survey Party Chiefs to support our global subsea construction projects across the Offshore Energy sector including pipe & cable installation, fixed & floating wind installation and subsea asset inspection.

Role Overview
As a Survey Party Chief in Subsea7 you will be responsible for the correct and efficient execution of all survey operations on the offshore worksite relevant to work scope. This will require a comprehensive knowledge of all survey systems and software and involve management and mentoring of Survey personnel under their supervision such that they are aware of their individual roles and responsibilities within the team and are performing their role to the best of the abilities. Offshore, you will report to the Offshore Manager for the worksite whilst maintaining regular contact with the onshore Project Surveyor and reporting progress on the survey operations and raising any concerns or issues at the earliest opportunity. The Survey Party Chief also has responsibility for the Health, Safety and welfare of the offshore Survey personnel, implementation and monitoring of the Subsea 7 safety management system, offshore survey resource management and management of work execution.

As a Survey Party Chief you will be required to complete your Competence Assessment for the role. You will continue to develop your experience, skills and competence both as a technical expert and as a team leader across a variety of vessel types and in different types of operation.
Your career within Subsea7 is only limited by your aspiration and desire and as a Survey Party Chief you may aspire to other senior offshore roles such as Bridge Supervisor or Offshore manager or alternatively consider a transition to an onshore role within Survey or another function within our global, multi-discipline organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain technical knowledge and capability in the operation of all survey sensors and software appropriate to the work carried out by Subsea7
- Conduct survey project briefings with the client representative, vessel OMT, ROV and Survey personnel so that all concerned understand the objectives of the operations, methods and techniques to be employed to achieve success
- Supervise the mobilisation, setup, calibration and operation of all survey sensors and software and ensure all required procedures and checklists are followed and completed
- Ensure efficient and correct execution of survey operations in accordance with relevant procedures
- Manage third party survey services and ensure full compliance with Subsea 7 Permit to Work System, relevant Safety Management processes and ways of working.
- Provide advice to marine and operational crew in support of operations as required
- Ensure that all equipment and stores used by the Survey team are maintained in good condition, that there is sufficient equipment and consumable resources on-board and all equipment faults and damages are reported
- Ensure Subsea7 operating procedures are adhered to during project execution and where deviation is necessary, ensure the Company’s Management of Change processes are followed
- Maintain regular communications with the client's offshore representatives, vessel OMT and onshore management through verbal and written communications including email, site memos and field reports as necessary.
- Co-ordinate production of final reports/as-built information as required.
- Embed a culture of awareness and compliance with Company standard procedures within the offshore team
- Effectively manage and coach survey personnel on the work site, giving constructive feedback and training as required to assist them in carrying out their appointed tasks in a safe and effective manner.
- Provide end of trip feedback on offshore operations, project procedures and support, offshore Survey personnel & Survey hardware.
- Actively support the delivery of the Subsea7 Competence Assurance and Assessment Program (CAAP) for survey personnel on the work site
- Operate in accordance with Subsea7 safety management system; ensure appropriate Toolbox Talks and Risk Assessments are undertaken for survey tasks as required and lead the offshore survey teams compliance with the companies HSEQ reporting tools
- Contribute to embed a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea7 and ensure familiarity with and compliance to our Code of Conduct.
Key Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Survey Party Chief or Senior Surveyor in offshore subsea construction
- HND or Degree qualification in relevant survey related discipline preferred.
- The following certification would be desirable but not essential: CA-EBS; Shoulder Measurements; ILO Seamans Book, valid Offshore Survival and OGUK medical.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of current offshore survey techniques in one or more of the following; pre-engineering survey, pre-lay survey, construction support, as-built survey, ROV survey operations, LBL operations, subsea metrology, jacket & monopile installation
- Ability to analyse problems in a structured and disciplined manner
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication skills with effective English language written and oral skills
- Ability to prioritise own and others' workload, manage time and change control accordingly.

- Good organisational and leadership skills

- Multibeam Echosounders e.g. Reson and R2Sonic
- AutoCAD
Experience of the following Software and Systems is desirable:
- Experience using land survey techniques e.g. Intersection/resection, network adjustment, levelling.
- Experience of RTK positioning
- Experience using total stations & dumpy levels
