DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

 

The ROV Pilot Technician Grade II assists with ROV operations and performs maintenance, preparations, and repair of the ROV system as directed by the ROV Supervisor/Submersible Engineer. They will communicate effectively with the other team members and, with training, will be capable of piloting and navigating the ROV, under supervision, in a broad range of operational circumstances and to act as data recorder / observer as required. Through CAAP, the role-holder will become knowledgeable in ROV control, navigation, and propulsion systems. The role-holder will also become familiar with the Company's documentation systems and requirements.

 

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices. This will include, but not be limited to:

  •    Actively reporting all undesired events and safety observations using the Safety Observation system and Undesired Events Report system.
  • Actively reporting non-conformances using the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system.
  •    Actively reporting and managing any unsafe act, condition or procedure or environmental unsafe acts and conditions to the Chief Officer so that action can be taken to manage or minimize any and all risk.

 

All personnel are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Generic Key Responsibilities & Activities

 

  • Responsible for the proper performance of all tasks assigned to them by the ROV Supervisor/Submersible Engineer during ROV operations.
  •   Responsible for being familiar with the relevant parts of the Subsea 7 Management system, project documentation, with special attention to Project and Customer supplied tools and work scope.
  •    Attend base to assist with preparation or repair work on assigned ROV system prior to, and/or upon completion of, offshore operations
  •    Assist with pre and post dive checks on the ROV system.
  •    Assist during launch and recovery of the ROV.
  •    Undertake ROV operations in accordance with Operating Procedures to ensure that the work is completed safely and efficiently to both the ROV Supervisor's and the client's satisfaction.
  •    Ensure that the necessary documentation is completed for the operations being undertaken as detailed in ROV Operating procedures or Project specific procedures.
  •    Carry out maintenance on the system as directed by the Submersible Engineer or ROV Supervisor.

 

 

AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS

 

  • Operate within the Code of Conduct
  •    Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles
  •    Work within the parameters of responsibility outlined for the vessel in the Vessel Authority Matrix
  •     Support standards and procedures for the ROV Function

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

 

  • Completion of valid IMCA (or equivalent) ROV Certificate necessary for the specific geographical area of work
  • Minimum College-level qualification in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronic / Hydraulics Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrable industrial experience in an Electrical / Mechanical / Electronic / Hydraulic environment
  • Internal course on operation and maintenance of the ROV system in question including permanently or semi permanently equipment installed on the system e.g.    manipulator/toolskid.
  • IMCA logbook with appropriate entries and satisfactorily completed company assessments
  • Valid offshore medical suitable for geographical area of work
  • Valid offshore survival suitable for geographical area of work
  • Attendance at PASS School induction and other company familiarization prior to mobilization
  • Compliance with the Subsea 7 Competence Assurance Assessment Program (CAAP)
