As we transition to low carbon energy systems, our opportunities to solve our clients’ challenges to decarbonise their projects & operations continues to grow. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity to join our Field Development group as a Principal Engineer where there will be many opportunities to manage and collaborate across projects of varying complexity, cost and stakeholders throughout the Low Carbon Oil & Gas and Energy Transition space.

What will you be doing?

 

As a part of the Field Development Group, the Principal Field Development Engineer will be responsible for defining and developing solutions and offerings to meet our clients’ future needs. Subsea7’s mission is to accelerate and de-risk infrastructure delivery through architecting partnerships and integrating solutions which reduce complex interfaces and combine complimentary offerings.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Defining the systems and solutions of our clients future Low Carbon Oil & Gas and Energy Transition (including Hydrogen, CCUS and Floating Offshore Wind) portfolio in conjunction with our strategy team.
  • Deliver optimal solutions which reduce project costs and delivery uncertainty across the full Asset or System lifecycle. Coordinating input from:
    • Central Engineering Discipline Teams
    • Products & Technology
    • Projects and Operations
  • Delivery of technical and economic studies related to SURF, energy transition, and decarbonisation including system design, optimisation, and economics.
  • Understanding of the market needs and drivers for demand accelerating the development of business cases for new solutions.
  • Supporting the development of our digital strategy for the early lifecycle phase through the development of our Front-End Planning tools.

 

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Candidates should have proven SURF Field Development & Operations Experience working to a similar level.
  • Demonstrate a background in client or consultant roles supporting early-stage field development and operations support activity. Some knowledge or experience of contractor / service company environments is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Energy Transition solutions including CCUS, Hydrogen and Renewables (Floating Wind).
  • Candidate should be degree qualified in relevant discipline related to the subsea engineering environment.
  • Candidates should show a commitment to their own Continuing Professional Development.
  • Delivery of feasibility, conceptual studies, Pre-FEED & FEED SURF and Energy Transition Studies.
  • Understanding of customers’ Capital Value process, Capital Budgeting & Field Development value drivers.
  • Able to collaborate with & support Sales, Business Development, Strategy and Technology teams.
