Business Controller

Seaway7 is looking for a Business Controller on a full time, staff basis, located in our Aberdeen, UK or Zoetermeer, The Netherlands office. 

The Business Control Team is responsible for preparing and monitoring the Seaway7 onshore personnel departments. As a Business Controller, you will be responsible for the monthly reporting for your assigned departments, including developing budgets, forecasts and providing variance analysis as required. 

 

What you will be doing

  • Performs monthly reporting activities for specific departments
  • Reviews and categorises monthly transactions, evaluates and calculates journal postings, and monitors performance against forecast and budget
  • Actively communicates with departmental budget holders and Human Resources to plan, monitor and advise on financial performance
  • Analyses and investigates variances and takes appropriate action when needed to ensure the accuracy of financial data
  • Supports in preparation of the annual budget for relevant departments
  • Supports the team in compliance with the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements and ensures targets are met within set deadlines
  • Explains financial information to non-finance personnel
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities to establish best practice
  • Supports with internal and external audit processes
  • Other ad hoc tasks and projects as required

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance
  • Previous relevant experience in line with the key responsibilities and activities (management accounting, budgeting)
  • Highly energised and motivated, determined to keep pace and eager to improve
  • A person who contributes effectively to group efforts and supports collective achievement
  • Highly numeric, detail orientated with comprehensive planning and organising skills
  • Deadline-oriented and able to work in a time sensitive setting with an eye for details/accuracy
  • Great communicator in English (both spoken and written)
  • Comprehensive computer skills (Outlook & Excel)
  • SAP knowledge/experience is desirable, but not mandatory
