Subsea 7 has an opportunity for a Tax Manager to join its global tax team, and provide dedicated tax support to Subsea 7’s i-Tech Services division. The division’s leadership team is based in the UK, but its operations are global. This role has a direct reporting line into one of the Group’s UK based Tax Directors, and functional reporting line into the i-Tech Services Finance Director, also based in the UK.
 
The ideal candidate will have significant practical International Taxation experience. The successful candidate will provide tax planning and compliance support for projects and entities across multiple jurisdictions, as well as input on a range of legal, commercial and treasury issues. This is a great opportunity for a candidate looking to work in a fast-paced environment, and develop their business partnering skills across a range of tax and commercial issues. The role requires extensive liaison with, and management of, internal stakeholders, as well as management of external advisors and communication with tax authorities.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adherence to the Group’s core Vision and Values
  • Day to day responsibility for all tax issues pertaining to i-Tech Services including corporate tax, withholding tax, stamp tax and VAT
  • Provision of tax advice to the i-Tech Services tender team in relation to anticipated tax costs, compliance obligations and other tax aspects associated with tenders
  • Input as to the optimal tax structure for operating in new jurisdictions, and management of the associated tax compliance
  • Assessing, monitoring and reporting on the tax risk profile of on-going projects
  • Responsibility for ensuring that tax registrations are completed, renewed, or closed out in a timely manner depending on the level and status of activities and prospects in any given jurisdiction
  • Ensure tax processes and procedures as relevant to i-Tech Services are documented, and maintained up to date, including transfer pricing and intercompany agreements.
  • Management of cash taxes payable, including liaison with the Treasury team
  • Quarterly and Year End tax reporting under IFRS for i-Tech Services entities
  • Liaison with external advisors regarding the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns.
  • Day to day management of tax professional fees budget and spend for i-Tech Services entities ;

Qualifications and Education
 
General Education:
Candidates should ideally be educated to degree level

Specified Qualifications for position:
Candidates must have a professional (chartered) accounting or tax qualification, or equivalent relevant degree

Continuing Professional Development:

  • Candidate will ideally have 1-2 years post qualification experience. 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Prior experience of working with SAP beneficial.
  • Candidates should be able to work without direct supervision and to solve problems using own initiative.

Skills 

Technical (including IT):

  • A good understanding of the principles of International Taxation and double tax treaties is essential.
  • Must produce work of a high standard.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Prior experience of working with Microsoft packages, including Excel essential.
  • Prior experience of working with SAP beneficial.

Interpersonal:

  • Candidates must have demonstrable strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. 
  • Candidates should have a desire to provide a high standard of customer service both internally and externally to the Company.
  • The position calls for a self-motivated individual. While the successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously for the most part, the role also requires the ability to work effectively as part of team. 

Experience:

  • Ideally candidates should be able to demonstrate relevant work experience in a similar role within a multinational company.   
  • Practical experience of dealing with entity registrations, permanent establishments and taxation in an international environment is essential.
  • Candidates should be able to work without direct supervision and to solve problems using own initiative

Location: Based at our East Campus office in Westhill or Sutton office, London

Travel: Key stakeholders are based in Aberdeen and Sutton so some travel will be required
