i-Tech Services, a Subsea 7 Company, currently has an opportunity for an experienced Vessel Fleet Manager to join the team and report to the Global Operations Manager.

The Vessel Fleet Commercial Manager is accountable for maintaining excellent relationships with vessel owners, negotiation and ongoing management of charter parties, working with all stakeholders in managing vessel availability for tendering and project execution with an objective of maximising vessel utilisation.

To ensure that all i-Tech Services vessel information is properly updated and reported in the Global Vessel Schedule.

Closely work with Vessel Superintendents in regards any vessel maintenance/dry docking requirements and vessel performance. Monitor vessel costs and utilisation to ensure best value for money resulting in optimum White Book Rates.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:-

  • Managing all agreements related to i-Tech Services vessels to support the delivery of the strategic and regional business plans
  • Developing constructive and collaborative relationships with all vessel stakeholders
  • Facilitating coordination and prioritisation of all vessels and associated resources
  • Working directly with and providing support to Regions and Tendering for new vessel charters and/or extensions
  • Managing the information contained within the Global Vessel Schedule (GVS) and interfacing with Subsea 7 SURF business unit and Subsea 7 Group Ops Director.
  • Accountability for controlling OPEX costs, achieving or improving upon budget and undertaking monthly cost centre reviews
  • Establishing standardised functional policies, processes and systems and ensuring compliance
  • Developing and fostering a positive HSEQ culture
  • Demonstrating safety leadership and ensuring that the team are organised and empowered to resolve all HSEQ concerns 
  • Monitors closure of vessel related HSEQ issues including attendance at monthly LMT reviews
  • Provides feedback, supervision and mentoring to direct reports, and indirect reports

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages the vessel fleet organisation ensuring the requisite skills and competencies are available to ensure the i-Tech Services fleet is fit for purpose
  • Promotes the concept of Continuous Improvement throughout the organisation
  • Liaises with Regional Directors to identify requirements for placing vessel charters into regional markets
  • Assists Tendering with respect to identifying vessels that meet specific tender requirements including the provision of accurate White Book Rates
  • Negotiates terms and conditions on vessel charter tenders with Vessel owners to achieve the best commercial position with minimised exposure to risk
  • Where required for project specific charters, endeavour to include any customer liabilities and obligations into Vessel Charter Party
  • Maintaining awareness of the external environment with particular focus on the vessel market, competition/market trends
  • Is familiar with the general work scopes, schedules, major risks and opportunities within projects

Experience, Skills and Personal Qualities


  • Degree qualified in Engineering/Technical or Commercial subjects, combined with suitable experience
  • Relevant experience at an appropriate technical, commercial and operational level in the subsea or offshore environment. Minimum of Senior Project Management / Commercial role
  • Experience in managing high performing teams
  • Experience of ship operations in a Subsea Construction, Inspection Maintenance and Repair environment

i-Tech Services, Greenwell Base, Greenwell Road, East Tullos, Aberdeen. The position is onshore based within an office and workshops/yard environment.
