Position Summary:

To assist the Lead Site HSSE Advisor, Site Representative and Subcontractor (as applicable) in all matters regarding the health, safety and security of personnel and the preservation of the environment, in relation to the execution of Project operations, and to ensure compliance with Subsea 7 HSE Business Management System.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSSE culture within at the work site and ensure familiarity with, and adherence to, local HSE requirements.

All personnel are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity and ensure familiarity with, and adherence to, the Subsea 7 Code of Conduct.

This is a worksite based position in either Maadia or Idku therefore the working conditions will vary and be of an industrial environment

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in HSSE induction and familiarisation process
  • Assists Supervisors in providing job-specific inductions
  • Assist in developping risk assessments for Project activities
  • Assist in specific job requirements in accordance with safe systems of work including the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system
  • Assist in routine checks to ensure that personnel, including subcontractors, are working in compliance with the site safe systems of work and best practice procedures. Provide coaching as necessary to ensure that personnel understand the requirements
  • Promote and encourage HSSE awareness on the worksite through for example, one to one engagement, small group training, toolbox talks
  • Promote the HSSE observations system
  • Stop any unsafe practice/condition that could lead to an immediate danger to personnel, equipment and/or the environment and report without delay to Site/Line Management
  • Assist in the close-out of HSSE action list items
  • Perform regular HSSE inspections on the worksite and report findings
  • Take initiative and provide input for improvements of HSSE matters
  • Monitor the Subcontractors HSSE performance and proactively support initiatives to respond to any emerging trends/deficiencies
  • Liaise with Client and Subcontractor HSSE representative/s on site
  • Ensure that appropriate Emergency Response Plan are implemented and regularly tested
  • Advises on HSSE legislation where required
  • Participate and support incident investigations as required

Experience & Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in construction or fabrication in a relevant position preferably in O&G
  • Management of 3rd parties and subcontractors
  • Demonstrable experience within an HSSE Advisor role preferably in O&G industry
  • A broad knowledge of the principle health, safety and environmental legislative requirements
  • Good working knowledge of HSE best practice
  • Ability to work closely with individuals and teams of people
  • Able to communicate effectively and comfortably at all levels with a pleasant and articulate manner in Arabic and in English
  • Able to demonstrate enthusiasm and develop an enthusiastic approach to resolving problems
  • Able to multitask and prioritise work load
  • Professional qualification in HSE discipline, NEBOSH General or International Certificate is a plus
  • Maintain a broad and in-depth knowledge of HSE legislation
  • Ability to articulate training experiences
  • Fluency in Arabic and English both written and oral
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
