OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Subsea 7 has the requirement for a bundle design engineer contractor to join the Bundles Discipline within the Central Engineering Department based at our North Sea and Canada office in Westhill, Aberdeen.

The bundle engineer will work as part of a team that delivers all aspects of bundle design, starting from early FEED scopes and Business Acquisition activities, through to full project detailed design & analysis; as well as support for bundle R&D activities.

Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Provide the skills, integrity and knowledge required to perform bundle design engineering activities
  • Perform pipeline bundle detailed design and analysis calculations in accordance with acknowledged industry codes, standards, design guidelines and Client specifications
  • Perform bundle design and engineering activities associated with pipeline bundle fabrication, launch, tow and installation
  • Engineer cost effective and fit for purpose bundle solutions for FEED studies
  • Provide bundle engineering support for tendering to develop competitive bundle orientated solutions
  • Support the bundle strategic technology development programme
  • Support bundle projects during the fabrication and installation phases, both at Wester Site (NE Scotland) and offshore; with typical durations ranging from a few days to 2-4 weeks
  • Provide adhoc Client support for existing bundles systems
  • Work closely with Supply Chain to develop specifications/scopes of work and also with Suppliers to develop competitive fit for purpose solutions
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirement are observed and addressed
  • All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices
  • Adherence to Subsea 7 Code of Conduct

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Educated to degree level or above in engineering
  • This position is ideally suited to an engineer already with bundle design knowledge, specifically, experience of performing bundle design and analysis
  • Experience of industry software packages and analysis tools with specific competency to perform FE analysis; including static and dynamic analysis
  • Subsea design engineering experience
  • Good knowledge of applicable codes, such as DNV, BS, API, NORSOK, etc.
  • Experience of developing solutions for FEED studies
  • Aptitude to perform R&D work
  • Proven experience of interfacing within an EPIC project team structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time accordingly and inform team members where constraints will affect your deliverables
  • Manage change control within own remit on a project
  • Strong communication skills, specifically, production of detailed technical documents and also delivering technical presentations
  • A positive attitude towards learning and strong interest in developing bundle technology
  • Motivated to contribute to a positive working environment
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development

Desirable Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Membership of a relevant Professional body
  • Specific Abaqus and Orcaflex experience
  • 3D FE analysis
  • Subsea construction/offshore experience
