Role overview

Working as part of Subsea 7’s group communications team, in conjunction with HR, the communications manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of the region internal & external communications plan, building upon Subsea 7’s reputation as the industry’s employer and partner of choice in Leading the Way in Solutions for the Offshore Energy Industry.

This professional will plan, manage and oversee communications activities to ensure alignment and consistency of activities and messaging across the Subsea 7 group, in line with company strategy and business plans. You will have excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience in the development of compelling employee messaging.

The communications manager will also provide communications guidance and support across the country including development and implementation of a media plan, and emergency media response.  Key interfaces will include HR, senior corporate management and other business functions.


Key responsibilities and activities:

Working closely with Brazil HR, S&M and VP drive, develop and manage execution of impactful and compelling internal & external communications. Major responsibilities are:

  • Development and implementation of the internal/external communications annual plan
  • Be a catalyst on the culture change management process developing communication strategies to engage, educate and build capabilities to support the company transformation journey.
  • Evolve and develop employee messaging to reflect and embed company purpose, strategy, vision, values and differentiators
  • Management and development of employer brand (Being 7) to ensure there is alignment and clarity in messaging and identity across core HR/employee communications and initiatives i.e. performance management, employee survey, learning and development, recognition, diversity and inclusion, recruitment and other activities
  • Improve leadership communication cascade into the management level
  • Close liaison with offshore operations to align on communications for the offshore audience
  • Development of constructive and professional relationships with all stakeholders and communications colleagues within Subsea 7
  • Ensures communications activities consistently adhere to corporate and employer brand guidelines
  • Provides input to the functional budget and is accountable for controlling costs and meeting budget (under his / her control)
  • Supports emergency response team
  • Ensures continuous improvement of internal communications activities scanning the external market for new developments and improvements
  • Develop track record and capability client facing materials to support business development activity. This will include brochures, data sheets, client presentations, technical studies, video, animation and digital tools
  • Evolve and develop external messaging and written content materials to reflect and embed company strategy, vision, values, differentiators and capabilities

Key qualifications/experience

  • Degree qualified in marketing / PR / communications or similar discipline is preferred
  • Experience of working in a large multinational company
  • Global oil and gas sector experience preferred, but not essential
  • Planning skills are critical to manage multiple stakeholders and concurrent projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to interact and work with senior level management
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to tailor communications to diverse audiences
  • Relevant experience in develop and engage team and promote a learning and high performance environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of working with, or in, external creative agencies
  • PR / media relations experience including planning and management of relationships with key media, reputational issues management and emergency response
