What will you be doing?

Subsea7 have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Vessel Manager (Chartered Vessels) to join our Project and Offshore Operations (P&OO) team based at either our Westhill, Aberdeen or Stavanger, Norway office on an initial 12-month basis.  

P&OO are a global internal service provider of Subsea7’s fleet, assisting our project teams to ensure the right people, vessels and equipment are in the right place at the right time with the right processes to do their job in a safe and compliant way.

 

The chosen candidate will work closely alongside the Vessel Manager (VM) for our Chartered Vessels, supporting them in the daily technical and administrative matters associated with managing the Vessels Owners to provide efficient running of the assigned vessels.  The Deputy Vessel Manager is instrumental in ensuring that Subsea7 values and cultures are both promoted and adhered to on chartered vessels, including all mobile and temporary equipment installed onboard.

As this is an operational role the tasks will highly varied and changeable but some of the main responsibilities include:

 

  • Develop the reporting system in place between the Vessel Owner(s) and Subsea 7
  • Monitor Safety and Pollution prevention operations and advise Vessel Owners accordingly in line with Subsea 7 policies
  • Developing and administering accurate budget forecasts against the approved budget plan
  • Implement collaborative approaches to ensure company policies and Vessel Owner policies are delivered
  • Maintain accurate records of all vessel activities, communications and technical dossiers
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding a wide range of topics including, operational matters with clients & vessel owners, establishing project requirements, co-ordinating equipment support & deliverables and providing assistance with Tenders
  • Coordinate ISM audits as well as LOLER and PUWER compliance audits alongside / in support of Vessel Owner where required

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Degree qualified, or other relevant higher education in Maritime, Naval Architect, Marine Engineer, Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC, with time in rank or similar.  Relevant Vessel or Oil & Gas Industry experience may be considered in lieu of suitable qualification
  • Experience in a similar role working with vessels servicing the Energy Industry with a working knowledge of vessels’ capability and operating limits as well as knowledge of IMO, Class & Flag and ISM requirements
  • A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish relationships and communicate across a variety of stakeholders both internal and external
  • A good level of commercial knowledge and awareness with the ability to implement budgetary controls to meet cost targets
  • Sufficient maritime and managerial experience to provide a level of knowledge within the ranks of the marine crew and external specialists
