Subsea7 are looking for a Pipelay Superintendent to join our office based Offshore Delivery team. Offshore Delivery are Subsea7's global service provider supporting project teams to ensure the right people, vessels and equipment are in the right place at the right time. Readied to enable safe and compliant operations.
What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Pipelay Technical Authority, this office-based role provides technical, operational and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle. Specifically, with responsibility for a variety of fixed and mobile pipelay assets across Subsea7’s global fleet of vessels.
The remit ranges from tendering to engineering, resource planning and scheduling, budgeting, and live operational activities. Technical pipelay experience is essential to be responsible for package activities, including writing and overseeing scopes of work through to completion.
Alongside technical expertise our ideal candidate will demonstrate commercial acumen to develop and control budgets and schedules (e.g. equipment purchases / upgrades / modifications) which maximise availability and minimise costs. This includes negotiating optimal specifications, pricing, and delivery timelines. Key responsibilities include:
- Package manage the process of new builds, major modifications and overhauls from writing technical scopes of work, supplier award through to onboard installation and commissioning
- Ensure safe and reliable operational compliance with legislation, company procedures and industry guidance
- Review and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Compile and maintain all up-to-date documentation relating to the safety and reliability of fixed and mobile pipelay assets
- Research and write processes and procedures, presenting to on/offshore personnel as required
- Execute operational requirements for equipment via the request for CAPEX process through to business delivery
- Liaise and collaborate with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including technical and project personnel, manufacturers and suppliers.
- Develop and implement approved preventative planned maintenance and certification programmes
- Participate in Vessel Assurance audits and compliance activities for vessel-based equipment
- Assist in the assessment, and provision, of training and development needs for Supervisors, Technicians and Marine Deck Engineers to operate and maintain assets safely and effectively
- Apply knowledge of Standards and Codes (e.g. Lloyds and DNV) related to original design and use of pipelay equipment
What experience would we like you to have?
- HNC or Degree in relevant subject such as; Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Consideration will also be given to those with significant role relevant experience who don’t hold a relevant qualification.
- A demonstrable background in technical engineering, with practical experience in the operation and maintenance of fixed and mobile pipelay systems and equipment
- Practical knowledge of the Standards related to the original design of Pipelay Equipment such as Lloyds Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment and the various applicable DNV codes for Marine Operations
- A clear communicator, able to speak with all levels within the business, who is comfortable working on their own and as part of a team
- Able to demonstrate commercial awareness and the ability to secure favourable terms and agreements with different suppliers and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise work to meet changeable deadlines, including occasional out-of-hours work
- Beneficial but not essential to have experience in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor
- Ability to travel to office and worksites including vessel visits.
