Subsea 7 have an opportunity for a Purchasing Team Lead to join the Offshore Delivery Team on a full-time permanent basis, located at our Westhill, Aberdeen office.

 

Reporting directly to the Offshore Delivery Supply Chain Manager, the Purchasing Team Lead will oversee a team of purchasing professionals ensuring delivery of a range of Supply Chain Management (SCM), Expediting and logistic activities.  This role will have a particular focus on supporting Pipeline Group (PG), Survey and the Workshops as well as management of Frame Agreements. 

 

Effective people management is a key responsibility of this role, with an emphasis on guiding and developing team members to meet both individual performance objectives and broader organisational goals. As Team Lead, the post holder is fully accountable for managing their team and ensuring that all requirements are proactively addressed. This includes setting clear expectations, supporting performance and career development, promoting wellbeing and engagement, and cultivating an inclusive, productive workplace where individuals and teams can thrive.

What will you be doing?

This will be a highly varied role but some of the main tasks include:

 

  • Mentor, coach, and support the development and training of team members across all purchasing activities.
  • Ability to prepare Master Service Agreements, Framework Agreements, and related enabling agreements that help support supplier management and contract administration, while ensuring annual maintenance and review.
  • Provide purchasing support to internal stakeholders which may include the Equipment Group, Survey Department, Vessel Fleet and any satellite offices.
  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager with resource planning and allocation across the purchasing function and supporting any business strategies.
  • Assist in the pre‑qualification and assessment of potential suppliers for inclusion in the Company’s Approved Vendor System
  • Support the administration of fleet‑wide agreements to ensure full compliance and effective utilisation
  • Oversee and manage the workload of the team, including SES oversight and management of the VIM inbox
  • Contribute to the delivery of Purchasing department objectives by ensuring that strategies and targets are clearly communicated, understood, and consistently followed
  • Manage the RFQ process, ensuring Scopes of Work are developed and issued in accordance with ODT Supply Strategy and Company procedure
  • Implement and oversee consolidated purchasing strategies for Survey, Logistics and PG where applicable.
  • Perform and prepare bid evaluations, recommendation summaries and lead supplier negotiations as required
  • Manage supplier relationships throughout the entire lifecycle of purchase orders, from pre‑award through to post‑award execution.
  • Coordinate and carry out supplier feedback assessments for all subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Ensure SCM Manager remains fully updated on all key activities and developments relating to the Offshore Delivery Team.

  • Extensive experience in a supply chain management or purchasing role, within the subsea or oil and gas industry.
  • Previous experience leading, motivating, and developing teams, creating a positive culture through coaching, mentoring, and effective performance management.
  • Capable of managing multiple interfaces across the organisation and with clients, and able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Able to demonstrate well-developed organisational skills and adopt efficient, smart working methods to deliver projects effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing workload demands, prioritising assignments, and distributing responsibilities effectively to support on-time project completion.
