Subsea7 is looking for a motivated SCM Subcontract/Category Specialist to join our UK & Global IRM team, based out of the Westhill, Aberdeen office.

 

This is a great opportunity to work in a fast‑paced, global environment where you will focus primarily on our pre-commissioning category.  In this role you will have an opportunity to support major projects and tenders and build strategic relationships with key suppliers through the full cycle of selection, management and performance monitoring.

 

Whether you come from SCM or a technical/fabrication background, we’ll help you grow your contract and commercial management skills.

What will you be doing?

The role of SCM Subcontract/Category Specialist will be highly varied, but some of the key responsibilities include:

 

  • Oversee procurement activities for critical and complex goods and services across assigned projects.
  • Manage vendors: sourcing, RFQs/ITTs, negotiations, and performance monitoring.
  • Issue and administer subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Run weekly procurement meetings and follow up with suppliers to ensure progress.
  • Track documentation, invoices, delivery milestones, and close‑out activities.
  • Resolve supply‑chain issues and ensure best value and minimal risk.
  • Support tendering and category teams to build cross-functional capability.
  • Identify improvements and deliver smarter, more efficient procurement processes.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Demonstrable experience or working knowledge of supply chain management in a relevant or transferable role and industry.
  • Good communication skills and ability to demonstrate effective negotiation skills and supplier management.
  • Detail‑focused, organised, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office; SAP / SAP Ariba experience welcomed.
  • CIPS or equivalent qualification welcomed.
  • Motivated, solutions-driven mindset committed to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrable experience working with shifting deadlines, collaborative, and comfortable working in a busy global environment.
