The Finance Resource Centre (FRC) team work together to provide accurate accounting services to the global Subsea 7 business. What will you be doing?

The Financial Reporting team within Subsea 7’s FRC provide financial accounting services to many of the regional finance teams. 

 

In this role you will have line manager responsibility for a small team with a key role of developing, coaching, mentoring and supervising your team. You will also lead your team to deliver financial reporting tasks for specific management regions. This will include year end and month end tasks, reviewing work completed by Accountants and Associate Accountants and building and maintaining relationships with regional finance teams.

Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Lead the preparation to filing process of your region’s statutory financial statements, ensuring high quality statutory financial statements and audit back up are delivered on time
  • Prepare or review technical accounting memos to support accounting decisions
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure deadlines are met and issues are brought to the attention of management when necessary 
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and analytical reviews prepared by the team, providing constructive feedback on improvements to the back up or the approach and proactively follow up on unresolved review points and actions required
  • Maintain and develop your team’s relationship with regional finance teams, ensuring that any issues noted are highlighted, understood and addressed, sharing ideas and best practice
  • Coach and supervise team members, providing regular feedback
  • Help to establish best practice, standardisation and ways of working for all FRC entities. Identify areas of process improvements and propose potential solutions
  • Provide training, where required, on technical accounting issues to the Subsea 7 Finance community
  • Manage the workload for your team, ensuring timely delivery and will contribute directly to the preparation and execution of deliverables if required

What experience would we like you to have?

  • You will be a qualified accountant, with audit and accounts preparation experience and proven qualification experience in a Financial Reporting role. You will have experience of IFRS and FRS 101 statutory accounts preparation, financial controls and the audit process and experience working within a similar environment. You will demonstrate a history of providing precise and insightful analysis along with thorough analytical reviews.
  • Experience of working in or with large multinational companies and in a large team would be beneficial.
  • Being able to understand and interpret financial reports and then communicating this data both verbally and in writing is important in this role. You will thrive on delivering high quality outputs, with a right first-time attitude and have good review skills.
  • This job will require you to work on your own and take initiative as situations arise. Having a meticulous approach to your work and the ability to organise tasks by priority is important. You will be a self-starter with a structured approach to problem solving and are a good collaborator, supporting both your direct team and wider Financial Reporting team as required
  • Being alert to process improvements within the department and the business is another area of continued focus.
  • Previous line management experience would be beneficial, with involvement in resource planning and workload management. 
  • Knowledge of working with SAP and a curiosity to understand processes to be able to identify and resolve problems is essential.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills are essential, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word.
