Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Subsea7 has one of the most capable and diverse fleet of vessels in our market segment. Modern and versatile, our fleet includes chartered and high specification owned vessels.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will join a large team of experts who, together, ensure the operational capability of the vessels that power our global projects.
Specifically, the Senior Quantity Surveyor has a crucial role to play creating and owning an accurate programme for the lifecycle of each vessel repair, maintenance and refit project.
This varied and exciting role has responsibility for a broad range of high complexity / criticality products and services. This includes major CAPEX projects, vessel technical stops, modifications, upgrades, and dry dockings. Reasonable planned overseas travel will be required to accommodate site and vendor visits.
Effective working relationships are essential throughout the organisation. With our Technology & Asset Development team for the delivery of new builds, to support HSEQ initiatives targeting environment and sustainability improvements, and to collaborate with SCM, Contracts, Vessels, Operations and Technical departments.
There is also the opportunity to mentor and guide less experienced team members during their ongoing learning and development.
These complex multi-discipline projects will require Applicants to be Degree level qualified in Quantity Surveying. Experience of Marine / Subsea sectors, including Mechanical and Electrical fitouts is beneficial, but not essential. Experience in large high value / complex Civil / Construction / Nuclear / Heavy Engineering projects will also be considered.
What will you be doing?
Cost Estimation & Planning
- Calculating quantities and cost for materials, labour and timeframes
- Input to feasibility studies and assessment of Project viability
- Preparation and overseeing of Invitation to Tender Packages, contracts including Bills of Quantity and schedules of rates as applicable.
- Evaluating tenders and producing recommendations for award based on commercial/contractual criteria
- Identifying and implementing strategies for the management of risk, value engineering and cost control measures including management of change.
- Design and implementing Site Query / Instruction process, control and manage change
Contract Management
- Lead negotiation on Contracts and work schedules
- Liaise with Team on matters such as risk and disputes
- Monitoring and reporting on subcontractor performance and stages of completion
- Stakeholder Consultation
- Understand Stakeholder requirements and ensure deliverables meet their needs
- Provision of advice on cost management and project delivery
- Provide guidance and direction to less experienced team members
Financial Management
- Ensure Projects are completed within budget
- Tracking and reporting Variance and growth
- Preparation and presentation of forecasts
- Management of Payment and Financial records
- Participate in Conducting cost analysis and variance reporting
Procurement
- Implementing procurement strategies for project requirements
- Sourcing of and purchase of materials
- Supporting the procurement group with Contractual guidance
- Ensuring quality and delivery of goods and services aligned with contract terms.
- Site visits to assess potential new Suppliers
- The establishment and on-going management of historic cost registers
- Attendance at Subsea7 Vessels and sites to assist in formulation of Scopes of Work
- SOW gap analysis and identification of additional information to ensure risk reduction.
- Demonstrating “Best Value”.
Project Delivery
- Ensures all processes are fully understood and adhered to by participating project members.
- Monitoring project progress, identify potential issues and solutions.
- Ensuring Projects are completed and closed out to the required standards, with lessons learned fully shared, documented and changes implemented.
- Demonstrating adherence to Corporate Governance requirements
Value Engineering
- Identifying opportunities to improve project value and reduce cost and schedule.
What experience would we like you to have?
- Degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying
- Experience within a marine, construction, subsea or offshore sector.
- IT Proficient, including Microsoft Office and information management tools.
- Demonstrates initiative and ownership to deliver workload unsupervised while flexible to support wider team activities.
- Commercial acumen, experienced in contract and project management, can identify and understand the commercial drivers and challenges of the business.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- The ability to engage, influence and negotiate at all levels, demonstrating credibility and professionalism.
- A collaborative worker who builds effective relationships across a highly diverse global business.
- Highly numeric with experience of budget management, report writing and presenting.
