Title: Graduate Engineer Trainee- Rigid Pipeline Design

What will you be doing?
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Reporting to Discipline Lead, a Graduate Engineer provides skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands clients’ needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
The requirement is to produce detailed engineering to deliver work assigned by the Senior Engineers/Discipline Lead. Work may include supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects.
Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities
- Under limited supervision, independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work which is normally subject to internal checking and approval.
- Responsible for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to DO, feasibility reports, design calculations, detailed design reports, construction/design drawings, design specifications/datasheets, material take-offs, weight control calculations, progress reports, bid evaluations, CTR input, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions, etc.
- Originate or check technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives, legislative and legal requirements are observed.
- Recognise and accept HSE Roles & Responsibilities as defined in DOC-GL-HSE-001
- Undertake analysis, design and engineering activities associated with subsea construction and installation.
- Production of design calculations for pipelines, spool pieces, tie ins, risers and umbilicals.
- Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. DNV, BS, API,); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
- Be aware of associated subsea related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project environment.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Ability to function within a design team and across multiple projects.
- Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
- Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time accordingly and inform senior team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
- Manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
- Manage change control within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
- Can work within time/budget constraints
- Works well independently, shows good initiative, demonstrates good decision-making skills and responses proactively to problems/issues
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or mechanical engineering from an accredited university
- Entry Level candidates with the right attitude and profile will be considered. Experience in the graduate programs in the field of pipeline design, construction and operation is a plus.
- Knowledge of the use FEA software such Abaqus, OrcaFlex in pipeline design and installation analyses, is a plus.
