The Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EIC) team at Subsea 7 provides expertise in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls across Low Carbon Oils & Gas and New Energies, from technology development to project delivery. Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced EIC Lead Engineer to oversee and ensure the successful execution of detailed engineering activities for topside projects, including brownfield modifications. The candidate will supervise an appointed engineering subcontractor responsible for executing the detailed engineering as per the technical scope of work and lead EIC-related activities. The role requires a focus on design activities, ensuring alignment with Client and Subsea7 standards and procedures.
- First assignment: Brownfield modifications at the Abu Safah offshore field.
- Client: Saudi ARAMCO.
Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate communication and interface management between Subsea7, the Client, and the subcontractor.
• Act as focal point for EIC discipline in the project, engaging with internal stakeholders, including other functions, other engineering disciplines, and EIC team based in Europe.
• Oversee the subcontractor’s execution of the technical scope of work, including engineering deliverables, to ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Plan, detail, and review technical documentation relating to topside systems with focus on E&IC and telecommunication systems.
• Confirm the accuracy and completeness of project milestones, such as the issuance of IFC drawings, technical reviews, and input for overall Engineering, Readiness & Operational Reviews.
• Provide technical guidance on key aspects of the scope of work, including demolition, installation, retrofits, and modifications.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues encountered during the design and execution phases.
• Conduct regular progress reviews and provide feedback to maintain timelines, quality, and cost-efficiency ensuring timely submission of engineering deliverables, including (but not limited) site survey reports, Smart 3D models, detailed design documents, and material selection reports.
• Provide specialist skills, integrity, and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements, and current good engineering practices.
• Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
• Recognize and accept HSE Roles & Responsibilities as per Subsea 7’s HSE Role and Responsibility matrix.
What experience would we like you to have?
Technical Knowledge
- Proven experience in detailed engineering for offshore oil and gas brownfield modifications, with a focus on topside projects.
- Proven track record of managing subcontractors and supervising detailed engineering design works for Saudi Aramco projects.
- Familiarity with the Abu Safah offshore field or similar environments is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards (SAES, SAEP), industry codes, and engineering best practices.
- Strong understanding of Smart 3D modelling, structural retrofits, piping design, instrumentation integration, and telecommunications upgrades.
- Expertise in Electrical (LV/MV/HV AC ) and Instrumentation Systems.
- Proficiency in hardware specification and sizing of electrical and instrumentation components.
- Experience with SCADA Systems (or similar Distributed Control Systems)
