Lead Piping Engineer
Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
• Plan, detail and review technical documentation relating to topside/subsea piping, mechanical systems construction and installation.
• Detailed design in accordance with acknowledged industry codes, standards, client specifications and scopes of work.
• Production and checking of design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, equipment specifications.
• Provide input to, check and approve topside / subsea structures piping tie-in general arrangement and isometric drawings
• Production of pipework and fitting specifications
• Production of specifications and data sheet for subsea valves in accordance with API 6A or ISO 14723
• Package engineering and management of pipe, fitting, forgings package
• Provide mechanical and integrity calculations for piping and equipment including pipework stress analysis utilizing CAESAR II.
• Coordinate piping and mechanical engineering support for the execution of multidiscipline projects in line with defined budget and schedule
• Liaise with associated topside/subsea related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project.
• Provide piping engineering assistance to fabrication, pre-commissioning and Installation
• Provide piping engineering support to Tenders, FEED Studies and EPIC Projects.
What experience would we like you to have?
Qualifications and Education:
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical or equivalent discipline, but consideration will be given to those with extensive proven experience within a similar role.
• 10+ years Proven experience in similar role.
• Proven Track record of delivering EPCI projects for major clients (ARAMCO, ADNOC, Qatar Energy, BP etc)
• Ability to lead and function within a design team and across multiple projects.
• Can articulate training in working situations.
• Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
• Can work to deadlines set by project management.
Key Attributes required for this position:
• Experience of Topside, Onshore and Subsea Piping design & analysis
• Knowledge and experience of use of Piping Codes & Standards – ASME B31.3, ASME B31.8, ASME B31.4, DNV-OS-F101, ASME B16.9.
• Proficient in performing Piping Stress Analysis using CAESAR II Software
• Experience in performing Fatigue check and Flow Induced Vibration screening
• Familiar with Flanges, Connectors and Valves Standards (ASME B16.5, API 6A/API 17D).
• Experience in calculating Pipe/Bend Wall thickness and Branch Area Replacement
• FEA knowledge (Assessment of Special Components) is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Typical Subsea Piping Materials – Carbon Steels, Alloys, Nickel-Alloys, Super Duplex.
• Support SCM in placing PO for procurement of Piping specific package procurement as a technical owner
• MTO/MR originator and owner
• Experience in checking/review of PID’s, Piping GA and Isometric drawing
• Experience in authoring Piping Reports, TQ’s, DVR and MOC
• Produce CTR estimates for relevant scopes of work.
• Author/Review Valve Specification/Datasheets
• A positive attitude to developing engineering across diverse engineering projects within the Subsea 7 global organisation.
