OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Senior Quality Engineer provides guidance, advice and support in regard to the effective management of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC), delivering quality management and improvement support to projects and Functions within the designated area of responsibility, specifically in the aspect of Supplier/Sub-Contractor Quality Management.  

They will provide support to the relevant Project Quality Manager/Lead and his/her team in the maintenance and control of processes, procedures, work methods and initiatives in support of Subsea7's overall Quality strategies.

 
GENERIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES 

  • Focal point for QA/QC matters, providing a support function to project management, ensuring that they have adequate resources and QA/QC input, specifically in the aspect of Supplier/Sub-Contractor Quality Management.  
  • The Senior Quality Engineer ensures the implementation/compliance and alignment of all quality programs, policies, processes, and procedures within Subsea 7. 
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of risk-based audit process and responsible of audit execution (both internal and external).
  • Managing non-conformities, facilitate the root-cause analysis corrective actions (RCCA) process, and ensure effective implementation of solutions to prevent recurrence.  
  • Work in conjunction with Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Fabrication and Operation to assess, manage and develop suppliers’ quality aspects, ensuring that quality requirements are well defined and understood by Suppliers/Sub-Contractors.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Continuous Improvements of the Quality Management System.  
  • Provides support on the development and maintenance of Quality Management System within the Region/Business Unit and supports Project Manager and Project Quality Manager in the implementation of the Business Management Systems.
  • Assist and advise project personnel in all matters relating to the application and implementation of the company management system on projects, ensuring appropriate levels of quality surveillance, inspection, and control with applicable areas of project execution and delivery.
  • Utilize the knowledge management tools to assist Quality to capitalize from Lessons Learned and to perform in accordance with best practices, striving to mitigate risk, promoting repeatability, safety and integrity consistently.
  • Drive and provide quality awareness within projects and suppliers (Workshops, Talking Points, training, etc.).
  • Support and promote our commitments to Safety and the Importance of Quality in influencing success of our Safety commitments.
  • Develop and mentor resources to meet business needs.

  • SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
  • Integral in evaluating and addressing supplier quality requirements that are identified in invitations to bid.
  • Identifying risk related to Supplier Quality Management, ensuring adequate surveillance is in place and followed through to the completion of interested scope of work.
  • Assess Suppliers/Sub-Contractors capability to meet the Quality requirements of the Project.
  • Ensure project quality requirements compliance with the procurement phase of the project and effective implementation of the project quality management system.
  • Coordination, preparation, establishment, and implementation of the Project’s Supplier Quality requirements or Instruction to Supplier.
  • Review of procurement related documents (RFQ, PR, TBE, etc.).
  • Arranging Supplier/Sub-Contractor Pre-Inspection Meetings & Pre-Production Meeting.
  • Preparation of audit plan & focus assessment.
  • Monitoring Procurement Inspection status.
  • Coordinate with COMPANY regarding procurement related activities. TPI management for inspection activities at Supplier/Sub-Contractor premises.
  • Appraises product quality in accordance with the Purchase Orders, Purchase Requisitions, Technical Specifications, drawings, and Quality Plans.
  • Review of Manufacturing Data book after completion of purchase order.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports as per project requirements.
  • Identify non-quality trends and advise Central Quality Manager and Project Quality Manager for resolution.
  • Establish effective correction, corrective action and preventive measures, to ensure that deficiencies do not recur.
  • Ensure lessons are identified and recorded for internal and external (supplier) non-conformities.
  • Support cost control team with supporting documentation for invoicing purposes.

KEY QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Good level of general education required, preferably supported by a degree in Engineering/Business/Quality Management. A diploma holder with relevant 10 years’ experience will be considered.
  • Certified IRCA lead auditor qualification.
  • Experience of the subsea products and offshore application, or a related industry.
  • Key skills include knowledge of quality management systems like ISO 9001, strong analytical problem-solving techniques (e.g., 8D, FMEA), and strong communication abilities to work with both internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Technical knowledge: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, engineering principles, and product specifications is necessary.
  • Good understanding of supply chain management principles and supplier quality management process.
  • Experience with supplier audits, quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, API Specification Q1), and managing supplier relationships is highly valued.
  • Willing to travel both domestically/ internationally onshore /offshore up to 30 % of the time.
