Subsea7 has an exciting opportunity for a Welding Engineer to join our Pipeline Group team at our Old Kilpatrick office in Glasgow, working on a full‑time staff basis.

 

In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering a wide range of welding engineering activities—from Research and Development initiatives to welding procedure qualification, development, and implementation. Your technical knowledge will promote innovation, uphold high standards, and support the strategic goals of our Welding Engineering Department.

What will you be doing?

 

  • Supporting the Business Development and Commercial teams in preparing tender submissions and participating in negotiations
  • Developing technical solutions and preparing high‑quality technical qualifications to meet client requirements
  • Working with the Commercial team to produce accurate estimates of time, resources, and materials
  • Delivering welding engineering projects from planning through to execution
  • Overseeing Welding Procedure Qualification Test activities, ensuring progress is monitored and targets are met
  • Producing clear and comprehensive documentation, schedules, and procedures
  • Providing guidance to ensure effective onsite welding engineering support
  • Monitoring project performance, resolve technical issues, and promote continuous improvement

What experience would we like you to have?

  • HNC qualification minimum; MSc in Welding Engineering is desirable
  • European / International Welding Engineer certification
  • Good communicator who can engage at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Ability to manage project activities effectively, maintaining focus on quality and delivery
  • Demonstrates a methodical approach and a good awareness of risk when making decisions
  • Show good planning capability with an understanding of wider business objectives
