Title: Associate Tax Advisor

We are looking for an Associate Tax Advisor to join our Employee Tax Team in our Houston, U.S.A. or Merida, Mexico office on a staff basis.
Reporting into the Head of Employee Tax, based in the UK, the Tax Advisor works independently and, at times, under remote supervision providing day to day employee tax support to Subsea7’s offshore crew working in the Americas. The Tax Advisor will be responsible for the quality, timeliness and accuracy of the work produced.
The candidate would be working as part of a small but geographically diverse Employee Tax Team and would be expected to contribute to creating a positive culture within both the team and the wider Subsea7 organisation, and to ensure familiarity with, and adherence to, any Subsea7 Tax Policies governing globally mobile personnel.
What will you be doing?
- Take ownership of simplified US payroll tax calculations for offshore crew
- Support external advisers with, and directly deal with employee tax registration and compliance tasks in a number of locations in the Americas (current scope would include USA, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago & Canada)
- Coordinate with the HR team on regional tax-related communications to the offshore crew
- Deal with adhoc queries raised by crew relating to regional employee tax and compliance issues
- [Provide input on expatriate, rotator and commuter issues, as required]
- Ensure on-going compliance with Subsea 7 Tax Policies
- Assist with regional tax audits
- Identify, and assist with implementation of, efficiency improvements
What experience would we like you to have?

- Relevant experience in personal tax though experience in payroll or corporate tax also considered
- Certified public accountants or equivalent international qualification desirable
- Understanding of local and international employment tax and social security legislation desirable
- Fluent in English, excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to interact with different cultures
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with strong Microsoft Excel skills
- High professional standard and attention to detail
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision
- Able to prioritise a demanding workload
- Proactive and flexible in approach
