POSITION: Principal Engineer
WORKSITE: 17220 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77094
Responsibilities include: Reporting to an Engineering Manager, the Principal Engineer provides engineering and technical expertise to the project team, supporting more senior engineers or managers. The requirement is to produce detailed engineering to deliver project work; supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects; work may be carried out onshore or offshore, depending upon the particular discipline in question; Responsibilities include: production of deliverables, which may include engineering support; design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions; signs and issues technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy; represents the company in meetings/correspondence with clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties etc., in a technical capacity; trains / mentors more junior engineers; ensures full traceability of the technical development of the assigned scope throughout the life of the project; ensure that specifications and scopes of work within the assigned project scope have been reviewed and agreed upon by the relevant centers of competence and that all quality issues are captured; provide technical support to tendering teams; understanding Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes and key SCM commodity strategies; engage in the project risk assessment and mitigation processes; undertake, and review analysis, design and engineering activities associated with subsea construction and installation; designing and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry codes, standards and design guides; client specifications and scopes of work; providing engineering assistance during mobilizations and occasional periods of offshore or site working; support the development of project-specific procedures for the implementation of work to be carried out by onshore & offshore personnel; identifying suitable equipment to perform operational tasks offshore, checking all aspects of the equipment to ensure it is operated safely and efficiently with suitable certification provided to meet statutory regulations; supporting the co-ordination/compilation of as-built material and commercial aspects of contractual variations from site/fabricators/offshore; and engaged in HAZID studies and TRAs of tasks detailed in the procedures.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or naval architecture or closely related and a minimum of ten years relevant engineering experience in the Subsea Umbilical Riser Flowline (SURF) within the marine and/or oil and gas industry; marine classification and local legislation; industry codes and design guidelines.
