Overview

The Senior HSE Advisor provides proactive and professional Health, Safety and Environmental support across all project worksites, ensuring the consistent application of Subsea 7’s Safe System of Work (SSoW), project HSE requirements, and compliance with applicable Turkish legislation. This senior technical role supports the safe and efficient execution of project activities and is based in Istanbul, reporting directly to the Project HSE Manager for all project‑related and in‑country HSE requirements.

What will you be doing?

The Senior HSE Advisor provides daily HSE guidance, support and coaching to worksite teams while promoting and implementing Subsea 7’s SSoW and project HSE Focus Areas. The role supports the development and execution of emergency response arrangements across worksites, assists with hazard identification and risk assessment development, implements required controls, and contributes to weekly, monthly and ad‑hoc HSE reporting.

 

They oversee key health risk management initiatives, including heat stress, cold weather, hygiene, noise and chemical exposure management, as well as DROPs prevention and vehicle/road transport safety activities across project worksites. The role supports Safety in Design activities, Serious Injury and fatality (SIF) and human organizational performance campaigns in collaboration with engineering teams and promotes supplier HSE best practices and collaborative improvement initiatives.

 

The Senior HSE Advisor also leads or supports incident investigations using Taproot, ICAM or equivalent methods and verifies the close‑out of corrective and preventive actions.

 

They must hold solid working knowledge of Turkish HSE requirements, including:

 

  • Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, with the ability to interpret and advise on legal requirements, support compliance registers and verification plans, and provide awareness training.
  • OSGB (Authorized OHS Services) coordination, ensuring statutory services are delivered and supporting audits, verification and compliance documentation.
  • Environmental regulations and ÇED (EIA) requirements, including support in interpreting relevant laws and ensuring alignment with Subsea7 environmental management procedures for all onshore and offshore worksites.

 

The role works closely with the Project HSE Manager, Worksite/Marine Base Managers, Project Management Teams and suppliers, participating in HSE meetings, workshops and coordination forums, and supporting HSE communications, awareness campaigns and improvement initiatives across the project.

 

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Relevant HSE qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE roles related to construction, fabrication, major projects or offshore operations.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of Turkish HSE legislation, including a complete understanding of legal obligations under OHS Law No. 6331.
  • Experience engaging with suppliers to ensure alignment with project HSE expectations.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation methodologies (Taproot, ICAM, etc.).
  • Experience working with multicultural teams in international project environments.
  • Ability to support the Project HSE Manager when required at national and international worksites worldwide inclusive of offshore.
  • Willingness to undertake regular travel between project worksites and supplier facilities, onshore and offshore.
  • Clear and effective communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, OneDrive, Planner and other collaboration tools.
  • Medical fitness for offshore and travel obligations.
