Subsea 7 has summer internship positions for engineering students to join us in our Houston, TX office. This will be a 10-week program during the summer that provides a great opportunity to come and work with us; learn about what we do and what it means to work for Subsea 7. The prospective interns should apply for the specific work tasks that most suit their interests/career goals.
The Project Engineer Intern will be integrating into one or more project teams to provide engineering support on installation, mobilization, and demobilization activities. With the expediency of IRM works scopes there will be opportunity to see projects from kick-off, design, delivery, and project close out.
The role involves working as part of a multi-disciplined team as well as client and supplier contact (internal & external) so therefore requires excellent interpersonal skills and personal organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Become familiar with project and product life cycle
Become familiar with Subsea 7 Business Management System documents
Become familiar with applicable industry codes and standards
Become proficient with schedule management
Become familiar with subsea architecture and the uses of the various installations that can occur.
Gain an understanding of rigging design and implement for lifting operations within projects.
Review vessel capabilities and compare to project requirements to develop procedures, lift plans, and deck plans.
CAPABILITY PROFILE – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS
Minimum of enrollment in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering program (Civil, Mechanical, Ocean, Aerospace or Marine are preferred) from an ABET accredited university or equivalent.
Applicants should be within 1 year of graduation upon start of internship.
Previous use of Autocad or other 2D drawing software
Aptitude and attitude to learn and experience seabed-to-surface engineering requirements, software tools, and other technical issues.
Ability to obtain, interpret and apply relevant information for formulating sound engineering solutions under the supervision of senior staff.
Ability to identify and use appropriate methods, tools and best industry practices to perform engineering under supervision of senior staff.
Ability to produce deliverables in a timely manner that are clear and accurate.
Ability to develop working relationships through effective communication.
Ability to apply logical analysis to break down problems and to develop solutions by creative thinking.
Ability to pursue goals, plan, prioritize and organize work.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Primary location of the position is in the Subsea 7 Bingle Rd office, located in Houston, TX.
No housing or relocation assistance provided.
Working hours: 40 per week, being 9h Monday through Thursday, and 4h on Friday.
Domestic travel opportunity may be available to attend vessel work in person in Houston, Port Fourchon, or Mobile.
