Our recent substantial contract awards and strong backlog in the Gulf of Mexico pave the way for experienced onshore Senior/Project Surveyors to become part of our dynamic Houston-based team.

 

Join a cohesive team dedicated to achieving excellence in subsea positioning, measurement, and mapping.  With Subsea7's extensive global presence, you'll engage in intricate and demanding offshore energy projects, utilizing our fleet of pipelay and construction vessels.

What will you be doing?

 

The role will work as part of an integrated project team to review client requirements, develop associated methodologies, procedures and budgets.   Duties are as follows:

 

  • Provide technical and operational input throughout the SURF/IRM project lifecycle, from tender development to execution and close-out.
  • Liaise with internal teams, clients, and third-party providers to identify personnel, equipment, and project needs, ensuring timely delivery to worksites.
  • Develop and review project-specific survey procedures, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Attend and lead project briefings and debriefings with survey personnel and stakeholders to ensure clarity of scope and expectations.
  • Manage survey deliverables, oversee third-party service providers, and ensure quality and timeliness of outputs within budget constraints.
  • Ensure end-of-trip reports are completed promptly, with lessons learned documented and communicated for continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance survey processes, workflows, and technologies to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Mentor and support junior surveyors, providing technical guidance, training, and career development opportunities.

 

What experience would we like you to have?

 

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree or above in Surveying, Geomatics, Hydrography, Geophysics, or a related science discipline.

Membership in a professional survey association is beneficial.

 

Experience

 

7+ years of experience in a similar onshore role with a background in offshore survey operations.

Demonstrated experience in subsea construction and IRM operations, with a strong understanding of current techniques and technologies in ROV-based positioning, measurement, and mapping.

 

Skills

 

  • Strong project planning and execution skills, with the ability to manage workloads independently while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, both written and verbal, with a proactive and team-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in survey software.
  • Proficiency in business tools, including Microsoft Word and Excel, to support reporting and project documentation.
  • Adaptable and dependable, with flexibility to meet operational demands across varying schedules and locations.
  • Familiarity with offshore safety standards and documentation.
