Overview

We have an opportunity for a Principal Engineer - Installation & Project Engineering (IPE), to join our Global Project Centre team in Kuala Lumpur on a full-time permanent basis. This role will report to an Associate Project Engineering Manager (Project), Tender Manager (Tendering), and/ or Discipline Manager.

You will have responsibility for delivery of high quality installation engineering deliverables, procedures/ document preparation, interfaces and follow up execution for offshore project and/ or tenders as per Subsea7 guideline with specific focus on safe and cost effective offshore installation operations.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.
 

What will you be doing?

  • Manage an engineering team within projects, tenders and/ or within a discipline,
  • Under own supervision, independently evaluates, organises and prioritises work,
  • Pro-actively participate in the conceptual and detail Offshore Installation Engineering studies,
  • Ensure full traceability of the technical development of the assigned scope throughout the life of the project,
  • Undertakes responsibility for production of Installation Engineering document deliverables. Participate in producing Offshore Installation Procedures c/w all related interfaces, and ensure are all aligned,
  • Manage all external and internal interfaces (external: Clients, Subcontractors; Internal: other Disciplines, i.e. Operation, Analysis, Designer, HSE, SCM),
  • Supervise and be involved in design of installation aids and other equipment required for use offshore/ onshore to support installation activities.
  • Accountable for the respect of the budget and planning of the scope and the team,
  • Offshore Installation Engineering, Operation and Technical expert, contribute to the subcontractors selection,
  • Provides support to Offshore Installation Engineering Team during project operation,
  • Participates actively to engineers training and development,
  • Participates actively to the IPE Discipline/ department know-how consolidation,
  • Proposes safe and innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction.
  • Understand Supply Chain Management processes, key SCM commodity strategies, actively engage in Project Expert Committees (PECs) and project risk assessment/ mitigation processes.
  • Operate within standardised engineering policies, processes and systems of the Business Management System (BMS),
  • Ensure that specifications and scopes of work within the assigned Project scope have been reviewed and agreed by the relevant centres of competence and that all quality issues are captured in the relevant Quality Control Plan.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Ability to lead and function within an installation engineering team and across multiple projects.
  • Having a good communication skills, oral, written and electronic across discipline.
  • Ability to prioritise own and others’ workload, manage time accordingly and inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
  • Manage change control within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Experience in rigid spool/risers installation required
  • Experience in diving is a plus

 

Profile Must Have:

  • Good verbal and written English,
  • Bachelor Degree or Master in relevant engineering discipline,
  • Minimum more than 12 years working experiences in oil and gas industry relevant to offshore installation.
  • Able to travel to either onshore or offshore sites when required
  • Able to work extended hours occasionally to meet job / project requirement
