What will you be doing?

Role Overview

 

We are looking for a Principal Pre-commissioning Engineer to join our pre-commissioning team in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, leading, and delivering subsea pre-commissioning activities from engineering through offshore execution and close-out.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Promote safety behaviour and safety in design.
  • Lead a multidiscipline team to deliver subsea pre-commissioning scopes.
  • Define pre-commissioning philosophy, execution plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Act as technical authority for procedures, methods, and subcontractor activities.
  • Review subsea designs to ensure pigging, flooding, hydrotesting, and dewatering feasibility.
  • Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, and purchase requisitions.
  • Evaluate and manage pre-commissioning subcontractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Provide offshore leadership during execution and ensure HSE and quality compliance.
  • Coordinate interfaces with clients, SPS partners, installation teams, and third-party contractors.
  • Support tenders with technical input, execution strategies, risk identification, and cost estimates.
  • Capture lessons learned and ensure full documentation and project close-out.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Naval Architecture, or Marine/Ocean Engineering.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in subsea pre-commissioning within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong experience leading the pre-commissioning scope on complex deepwater projects.
  • Proven expertise in pipeline and umbilical pre-commissioning engineering and operations.
  • Pipeline and flexible pre-commissioning (flooding, hydrotest, pigging, dewatering).
  • Intelligent/caliper pigging and leak detection.
  • Umbilical hydraulic, electrical, and fiber optic testing.
  • Mechanical completion and handover systems.
  • Knowledge of API, ASME, DNV, and ISO subsea standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Valid BOSIET.
  • Offshore medical fitness certificate.
