Overview

The Project Controls Manager (PCM) is a key leadership and operational position within the Project Management Team responsible for achieving successful commercial outcomes working closely with the Project Director/Manager and Project Services Manager (where applicable) of the project(s) he/she is assigned to.

The Project Controls Manager oversees all commercial aspects of the project, leading the effective deployment of Project Controls systems and culture. PCM further supports and closely collaborates with Contracts Management as well within the assigned project and ensures integration and consistency of Risk & Opportunity, Planning, Cost Control, Document Control and Change Management.

As is expected of all Subsea 7 personnel, the Project Controls Manager will promote a culture consistent with Subsea 7’s core values of Safety, Performance, Integrity, Collaboration, Sustainability and Innovation, whilst also adhering Subsea 7’s Code of Conduct and HSEQ codes and practices.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading and developing assigned team members within the Project Control team.
  • Ensuring integration, consistency and accuracy of the Project Controls systems.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration between Project Controls, SCM, Engineering and Operations
  • Ensuring Risks and Opportunities are appropriately identified, evaluated and considered within Project Planning and Cost Forecasting.
  • Identification of actions and ensuring these are implemented in a timely manner to mitigate risks and capture opportunities.

 

Planning and Performance Monitoring:

 

  • Ensure planning is properly delivered on the projects including the establishment and maintenance of the baseline plan, progress updates, planning reviews, short term look-ahead plans and forecast completion status.
  • Overseeing the development of integrated project schedules, fully considering all dependencies between the EPCI Activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate issue of GVS updates.
  • Developing progress measurement tools including dashboards (where applicable). Utilizing appropriate weightings, earned value assessment, physical actual percentage completion and productivity assessment.
  • Ensuring the progress of document deliverable is closely monitored and that any delays are identified early. Ensuring impact on the overall schedule is fully understood, and mitigation plans implemented.
  • Establish regular assessment of Key Performance Metrics to assess the project health.

 

Cost Management:

 

  • Promoting a culture focused on collective delivery ownership.
  • Identifying, tracking and communicating internal/external changes to the project revenue/cost/time baseline.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting of revenue and cost based on the latest thinking, and that all known information is incorporated within the Estimate at Completion.
  • Ensuring that risks and opportunities are incorporated into the Estimate at Completion and that they are accurately reported as soon as known.
  • Ensure budget management processes are implemented and followed-up throughout the life of the project.
  • Ensure effective cost management, including budget baselining and control, cost performance assessment, forecasting, close-out, and cash flow management.
  • Produce and present, together with the Project Manager, the monthly Progress Monthly Status Report (PMSR) ensuring its completeness and accuracy with regard to work performed to date and future forecast till completion.

 

Document Control

 

  • Giving presentations and facilitation of meetings with a range of project personnel and stakeholders to deploy the capabilities of the platforms /tools / systems.
  • Working closely with other disciplines to ensure open communication and a collaborative project team while promoting a culture of accountability.
  • Contributing to Continuous Improvement of Systems and Project Ways of Working whilst ensuring compliance with the Subsea 7 Business Management System.
  • Identification of Lessons Learned on a contemporaneous basis and sharing proactively within the function and business.
  • Continual focus on Project Governance, championing PM7 Gate Reviews and compliance with Subsea 7 Business Management System.
  • Producing and presenting project reports for internal and external clients/stakeholders.
  • Working with clients, suppliers and partner to understand client project performance requirements and to co-ordinate internal resources to meet them.

What experience would we like you to have?

 

  • Degree qualified in areas such as Quantity Surveying, Business Management, Law or Engineering.
  • A broad commercial understanding with a proven track-record in Project Controls and a strong Commercial Acumen.
  • Highly developed influencing, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Highly developed planning and execution skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Previous experience in management or lead position would be a plus.
  • Highly developed inter-personnel, team leadership and development skills.
  • 10+ years relevant industry experience.
  • Ideally have experience of multi-site project delivery execution.
