Title: Project Cost Control Team Lead

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Cost Control Team Lead to join our Kuala Lumpur office on a full-time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a dynamic role within a busy office environment, supporting a range of projects. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience of Project Accounting in the Oil & Gas, Construction or similar industries, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
The individual will be comfortable working under their own initiative and within a team, being able to respond to tight deadlines and deliverables as and when requested by Management. The individual will not only perform the core responsibilities of a Cost Controller but will also oversee and mentor other Cost Controllers, ensuring high quality deliverables and professional development within the team. The individual will be expected to manage tight deadlines and coordinate team activities and act as a key point of contact for management.
All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.
What will you be doing?
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Cost Controllers ensuring high performance, accountability, and continuous capability development.
- Allocate work effectively across the team, balancing workload and project priorities.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations aligned with organisational objectives.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, financial controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive standardisation and continuous improvement of cost control processes, systems, and reporting practices.
- Ensure alignment and effective utilisation of cost control systems and tools, consistent application of best practices and ways of working across all projects and tenders.
- Oversee development, validation, and ongoing management of project budgets and cash flow forecasts (in/out).
- Oversee reconciliation of forecasted and actual expenditures, including accruals.
- Monitor and report project cash flow, financial obligations, and key performance indicators (KPIs) on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to support decision-making by senior management.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of Project Cost Reports and inputs for Regional/Corporate reporting.
- Ensure clear communication of financial status, risks, and opportunities Lead regular team meetings to communicate priorities, share knowledge, and drive continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members as required.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team environment aligned with Subsea 7 values.

What experience would we like you to have?
- Degree qualified ideally in Cost Management, Project Management, Finance or Engineering. Membership to a relevant Professional body is desirable.
- Broad experience of delivering Cost Control and various types and size of project.
- 10 years’ experience in Project Cost Control, with at least 3 years’ experience as a lead Cost Control on large projects, preferably Offshore Energy sector.
- Strong excel and systems skills (SAP S/4 Hana, EcosSys).
- Strong Communication skills essential, fluently in English.
- Working in a team orientated environment essential.
- Strong leadership skills and people management skills.
- Ability to challenge constructively and drive accountability.
- Regular trips to project locations may be required (project dependent).
