Title:  Resource Planning & Digital Engineering Lead

Overview

We are seeking a Resource Planning & Digital Engineering Lead to support our Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) function in Kuala Lumpur and across the wider Asia Pacific & Middle East (APME) region.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and digitally focused professional to combine resource planning, business analysis and engineering support within a dynamic international environment. Working closely with the Global Project Centre (GPC) East Engineering team, you will support and coordinate engineering resource planning, forecasting and budgeting activities, develop data-driven insights, enhance digital tools and processes, and contribute to the continued development of the CAE function across the region.

This position reports functionally to the CAE Discipline Manager and operationally to the Country Engineering Manager (Kuala Lumpur).

What will you be doing?

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Resource Management and Budget Planning

• Support delivery of the monthly Latest Thinking Forecast (LTF) reports for APME region and submission within GPC Resource Plan Control Team;
• Coordinating resource demand forecasts with APME Regional Management teams, supporting leadership reviews and planning discussions and ensuring consistency and accuracy across forecast submissions;
• Support preparation and consolidation of engineering budget submissions and maintain consistency of financial assumptions and resource costs;
• Budget Planning - support coordination of inputs from multiple stakeholders and ensure alignment between forecasted demand and available funding budget;
• Support senior managers with the annual GPC Engineering budget exercise;
• Support the development and continuous improvement of the forecasting tool, including roll out, training, user support and collation of feedback;
• To maintain alignment of resourcing works between GPC managers, HR and Sales and Marketing teams;
• Provide first degree support to users and the training of Resource Manager aligning with Group Digitalisation initiative;
• Coordinate and establish regular communication with Functional Engineering Managers on the requirements and planning of engineering resources for new and established projects;
• Manage, analyse and present the data submitted from the engineering progress monitoring dashboards and from engineering department resource planning dashboards.

CAE Team Functional Development

• Become the key representative of the CAE function in the APME region, to help promote the discipline and to assist in communication with the teams from Europe;
• Promote CAE function and engage with engineering population in APME countries to develop plan for regional CAE function implementation and roll-out;
• Identify regional needs and gather APME regional CAE proposals when opportunities arise;
• Provide support for project planning, coordination, and resource management activities across the CAE function within the APME region;
• Contribute to the improvement and standardisation of ways of working through the development of processes, procedures, process maps, and workflows.
• Support project management activities associated with the development of tools, with a particular focus on resource planning and forecasting workload;
• Provide tool development support on topics surrounding Microsoft Excel and Power BI;
• Explore and leverage AI and other emerging digital technologies to identify opportunities to create value, improve efficiency, and support continuous business improvement.;
• Provide support and guidance for SharePoint-related activities and user queries
• Support the growth and development of the CAE team, including tracking skills and competencies and identifying training and development needs

What experience would we like you to have?

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
• Advanced digital capability, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a good working knowledge of SharePoint and PowerPoint. Experience with MS Project and Power BI would be beneficial.
• A genuine interest in emerging digital technologies, including the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve business processes and outcomes.
• Relevant experience within the subsea, offshore, or wider energy industry, gained at an appropriate level.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured, methodical, and well-organised approach to work.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Knowledge of business analysis, resource planning, and performance management principles.
• A good understanding of engineering practices and project delivery environments.
• Capability to manage your own workload efficiently, prioritise competing demands, engage with senior stakeholders, and ensure actions are completed.
