Overview
Subsea 7 is looking for a skilled Human Resources Business Partner to join our team in Lisbon. This is a permanent position which will support within our Global Project Centre – East (GPCE) Team and is well suited to those with experience acting as a trusted advisor to business managers across multiple African countries. Whilst our preference is for the candidate to be based alongside the wider team in Lisbon, we are also open to interested candidates who are based in Angola and willing to relocate or travel on a regular basis to Lisbon.
As the HRBP, you will be the primary point of contact for all HR matters in the region, partnering closely with our Africa HR Manager to implement regional initiatives. You will play a vital role in ensuring consistent, high-quality HR support across areas including workforce planning, talent development, performance management, employee engagement, and employee relations while ensuring compliance with local labour laws and company policies.

What will you be doing?
HR Partnership & Advisory
- Advise managers and employees on HR matters across designated countries.
- Support implementation of regional HR strategies, policies, and initiatives.
- Partner with hiring managers on recruitment, talent sourcing, and retention.
- Collaborate with global HRBPs to develop local HR solutions.
Talent, Learning & Development
- Implement global talent review processes.
- Support succession planning, capability development, and career progression.
- Coordinate training needs with L&D teams.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Drive initiatives that foster engagement, inclusion, and a positive culture.
- Support global/regional engagement surveys and action planning.
- Lead recognition and values‑driven activities.
Performance Management
- Guide managers and employees through performance processes.
- Ensure fair and consistent performance evaluations.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide advice on ER matters and manage cases in line with policy and local law.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and audit requirements.
- Partner with Legal and Compliance to mitigate HR risks.
Reward & Workforce Planning
- Support compensation and benefits programs and annual review cycles.
- Provide guidance on pay, benefits, and HR policies.
- Maintain accurate workforce planning with business leaders.
Operational HR Excellence
- Deliver accurate HR processes (onboarding, offboarding, contracts, etc.).
- Partner with HR Shared Services to resolve employee queries and maintain data accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement, process standardisation, and global HR initiatives.

Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
- Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM, HRCI).
- Significant practical HR experience, including at least 3 years in a business partner role.
- Knowledge of the oil and gas industry would be beneficial in the role.
- Demonstrated experience providing guidance and support to business leaders and management on the recruitment, L&D, OD, rewards & benefits policies while ensuring compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective professional relationships with all stakeholders and colleagues across geographical locations.
- Developed or supported the development of relevant HR plans, annual objectives and overall countries strategy.
- Experience advising line managers on HR matters and people management practices.
- In addition to the above, may have Specialist Responsibility for an area of HR Expertise.
- Fluency in English, Portuguese spoken and written. Other languages such as French or Arabic would be welcome addition.
