Title:  Steel Structural Engineer

We are continuously looking to strengthen our Structural Engineering team at the GPC Lisbon hub. As part of this effort, we are opening an expression of interest for a Steel Structural Engineer to assess potential interest and identify talented professionals for future opportunities. The role involves contributing to studies, tenders, and projects across a variety of EPCI and T&I scopes within the offshore energy sector.

 

What will you be doing?

 

  • Conduct detailed structural analysis (linear/non linear, static/dynamic, modal) and verification of steel structures design (member capacity, stability, steel connections, serviceability) specifically for following types of structures: seafastening, installation aids, and permanent structures such as ILTs, PLETs, and suction anchors.
  • Prepare calculation reports, liaise with drafting team for coordination of 2D drawings and 3D models;
  • Design and detailing in accordance with Structural Design Standards, specific industry codes and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, AISC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work;
  • Monitor the progress of own calculation and reports, controlling schedule, scope and budget;
  • Liaise with other departments and different engineering disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project;
  • Contribute as required to events such as Bid Clarifications, Kickoff meetings, Design Reviews, etc

 

What experience would we like you to have?

 

  • Graduated with a M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Civil (Structural), Mechanics, Aerospace or Marine/offshore Engineering;
  • More than 2 years of relevant experience in steel structural design activities (background in offshore energy sector is a plus but not mandatory);
  • Competency in design and analysis software packages for Beam Elements (Staad Pro, SACS or similar) is essential and FEA knowledge (Abaqus, Ansys…) is a plus  but nor mandatory;
  • Good knowledge of design codes (Eurocodes, AISC), knowledge in industry specific codes (API, ABS, BV, DNV) is a plus but not mandatory;
  • Ability to prioritize own workload where constraints will affect a project in terms of deadlines or budget;
  • Strong communication skills (English & Portuguese) and keen interest to work with other disciplines/departments;
