Role Introduction

Subsea7 has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Solutions Engineer (Orcaflex/Abaqus) to join our Pipeline Group (PG) team in Sutton. This team specializes in delivering fit-for-purpose rigid pipeline installation engineering for projects and tenders, focusing on safe and cost-effective offshore installation operations.

 

As a Digital Solutions Engineer (Orcaflex/Abaqus), you will have a significant role in our digital transformation journey. Working closely with the Installation Engineering Digitalisation Champion, you will help advance initiatives that bring PG into the digital era. Your responsibilities will include developing automation and digital tools, standardising processes, and exploring data applications—all aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing ways of working within the PG Installation Engineering teams.

What will you be doing?

The Digital Solutions Engineer (Orcaflex/Abaqus) will play a key role in implementing digital innovation within our Pipeline Group (PG) Installation Engineering team. Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Mapping Processes: Collaborate with PG team leads and principal engineers to develop clear, efficient process maps.
  • Building Automation Tools: Design and implement tools to automate and standardise engineering processes and activities.
  • Supporting Development: Oversee and monitor tool development by internal teams and external partners.
  • Data Exploration: Analyse data collected through digitalisation tools and identify opportunities for practical applications.
  • Championing Digitalisation: Assist the Installation Engineering Digitalisation Champion with planning, reporting, and promoting digital initiatives across the PG team.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective interfaces with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay up to date with industry trends and identify new digital opportunities for PG Installation Engineering.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or similar field.
  • Proficient in Orcaflex or Abaqus, and experience with programming tools such as Python or VBA.
  • Knowledge and experience in offshore installation engineering.
  • A keen interest in programming and digitalisation, with a commitment to improving ways of working.
  • Good communication skills with ability to speak with all levels within the business.  Comfortable working individually and as part of a team.
  • Proficient report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work, as well as the ability prioritise and organise work accordingly to meet deadlines set by management.
  • Willingness and flexibility to undertake short periods of overseas travel when required.
