The scheme involves both on and off-the-job development, exposes graduates to a variety of engineering experiences and elements of project execution spanning through tendering, early engineering, detailed design, installation engineering to offshore execution.
What will you be doing?
This position sits within our Pipeline Group (PG) Reeling Analysis team. PG supports Subsea7’s pipelay projects globally and our installation engineers play an integral part in finding solutions to complex engineering problems. Our engineers are recognised for their expertise and can oversee specific critical subjects either on business improvement, or projects.
Reeling of subsea pipelines is simulated using finite element software to ensure that the strain level is within the allowable limit to satisfy integrity checks when the pipeline is spooled on to the vessel reel and laid offshore. In this role you will review the existing reeling analysis methodology to become familiar with the work before commencing on the main objective of this internship. You will support the development of an approach to analyse reelability of the pipeline using different material models for the carbon steel.
Other Duties and Responsibilities typically include:
· Under supervision, assist with production of technical documentation which may include, design calculations, analysis, reports, specifications, procedures, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions
· Consolidate knowledge in areas of discipline engineering, including design codes and standards, legislative requirements and current best engineering practice
· Awareness of clients' needs; address design parameters and problems; develop and implement solutions
· Participate in meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors and 3rd parties in a junior capacity
What experience would we like you to have?
Our reeling analysis graduates typically have one of the following degrees and are able to demonstrate a good level of knowledge and experience of simulation software and finite element analysis (Mechanical, CFD, heat transfer etc) using software such as Abaqus.
